Titanfall 2. Just pure action and fun. Just pains me that EA did them such a disservice with the release window. Early Aug or Sept release would have given Titanfall it's deserved time to shine in the spotlight.

With recent news about the new 1080/1070 Nvidia gpu's about to be released I found myself feeling that upgrade itch. You know the feeling. You begin to review and nitpick every performance issue your current rig has to justify making the jump to the latest and greatest. Currently running a 3570k and a 980. This is at 1080p on a single monitor which is my big screen. Yes I know it's overkill and in reality there is no reason to upgrade at all cause my machine smoke's everything I throw at it so far. Just wondering how other PC heads keep disciplined about not giving in to what essentially are useless performance upgrades.

Wife, kids, house and all the BS that goes with it. I'll be 40 in a few weeks and have been gaming in it's various forms most of my life. So I'll break it down real simple. Competitive multiplayer is basically dead. You will have no time nor be given any to maintain those precious twitch skills that are required to keep your k/d looking good. What about coop campaign mutiplayer you say? It's doable but you'll say **** it pretty soon after becoming frustrated trying coordinate those sessions without being distracted for the infinite number of reasons that your family can and will interrupt so you might as well play it solo. Epic hundred hour experiences like the Witcher 3? That game which you could finished in a few days of marathon sessions will now take you 6 month's to actually finish if you finish it at all.

What this all means is that I recently realized that "You can't play everything." with so many choices and genres with high quality titles in everyone of them there is no way you can experience everything without becoming burned out or jaded. So I have made a decision to be more disciplined and only give my dollars and most important my time to genres that I can play and maintain a connection too without feeling like I'm simply going through the motions.

Riding 1080p till the wheels fall off. I don't sit close enough to my television for me to worry about my pc outputting 4k. My advice is to work towards smooth gameplay rather then ultra high rez. You will save money and also be able to play a bigger selection of games at higher settings.

@ohnooh: I5 and 970 will serve you well 1080p single monitor. Its the core of my current rig and at 1080p which is the max my television supports I have had nothing but great performance. Too bad the price difference there is so extreme though. Another bummer is your timeing. Your doing a build during a transisition phase which not always the best time to spend that kind of dough.

Do you already own the 4790K? If not then wait a month or two for skylake cpu and the 170 chipset boards which are supposed to be on their way sometime in August. Save up some extra dough if that's a issue then go with DDR 4 at that time. No need to worry about if there are tangible benefits since you will be able to take advantage of them right from jump. That's what I would do. Good website for questions like these is tomshardware.com

There will be a PC version. Still I have a PS4 and this is as good a reason as any to dust it off and get some playtime with it since there hasn't been a ton of compelling exclusives out for it.

Okay I realize that Diablo 3 takes some of the thunder from this release but I am surprisingly excited for this release. Anyone else? If so shoot Mr402 a friend request on Steam. I just have a hankering to hear "Warrior needs food badly!"

Half-Life 2. Though the launch was so plagued with issues it wasn't funny. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to play it at launch with little issue so I didn't see a problem. I also didn't think it would be half as successful as it ended up to be. I'm glad they became the example to the industry and in my opinion they saved PC gaming by creating the environment that we all enjoy now.

Why do people attack someone's economic status as the main reason they are looking to save money? I'm 38, 4 kids, two cars and a mortgage so if I have disposable income for gaming you'd best believe I see nothing wrong with being a smart consumer and getting a good deal. If folks want to pay full retail price for something when they can get it cheaper then a fool and his money are soon parted. That being said I simply hate buying a bad game no matter the price. Regardless I appreciate people's constructive input and as I type I have just pulled the trigger on SoM and the new CiV which GMG has also slapped with a awesome pre-order discount.
