@aistan: That said, if they were to temporarily disable the current portal from the Nether side, then attempt to enter the Nether from the new portal on the "earth" side, it would create a new portal in the Nether at its correct location. Then they could re-activate the original portal and all would work correctly.

I think finding an intact, populated village and cultivating it would give you a new fulfilling goal now that you're demotivated about the house. Trading with all the villagers and leveling up their jobs takes some work. Some of them make pretty useful items, like maps that lead you to forest mansions and underwater temples, enchanting books, and diamond equipment. You can even expand the village to increase the population! Just make sure not to bring an Illager raid to that location and get everybody there killed!

Also, that whole thing you read about ancient tomes was for a mod, not the regular game. The enchanting books in the regular game are just used at anvils.

Monsters are able to trigger pressure plates just like players, so the Creeper just waltzed right in like anyone else would. I know it makes entering and exiting more annoying but removing those would make the interior more secure.

I'm totally with Jeff--the death penalty sucks and completely discourages exploration and experimentation.

Vinny's been complaining about the villager being in the tent for like three weeks; it takes literally like ten minutes to log in as Max and fix the issue, just do it already for your own sake!

@gaston: Well, it kinda depends on what you mean by “these type” but I think the best answer for what you probably mean is the Super Famicom game Torneko no Daibouken: Fushigi no Dungeon, a spin-off of Dragon Quest and the first game in what we now know as the “Mystery Dungeon” series. It’s only in Japanese but there is a fan translation. For something available in English you might want to look at Shiren the Wanderer on the DS, it is a remake of the second game in the series. Azure Dreams was definitely inspired by that franchise.

You probably shouldn't draw such broad conclusions about the difficulty from the very beginning of the game! Even setting aside the postgame, this game gets tough! But fortunately you can just grind it out until you're strong enough to get through the story, unlike typical "true" roguelikes.

You definitely lose rank for using Cyber Elves in the first game, that wasn't added later.

EDIT: The dude's dog is named Treble, his name is obviously not pronounced like the fish. Come on, guys.

Ben, as a fan of grappling hook platformers you really need to check out the Umihara Kawase series. Until recently all the games were only in Japan, but now three of them have been ported to Steam and the fourth is on Switch, with another in development now.

I tried for like ten minutes to find a good gif but for now a video will have to do.

87 percent isn't 100 percent, same thing with XCOM, you're gonna fail percentages like that sometimes. I don't understand how people can blame the game for that. That's how math works.
