This game took weeks of my life away. I regret nothing.
Such an epic game.
My first game on N64. So classic.
Maybe it's the nostalgia factor, or maybe it's because it was my first game for PS2 and I was busy marveling at its awesomeness, but I really liked this game. It just had so much heart. And the demo of MGS2 didn't hurt either!
The original and best. The story was such a great mix of open world, mystery, action, and adventure. And you could play it co-op. It started a phenomenon.
One of the best RPGs I've played in a very long time as well as just a great game in general.
I was pretty disappointed/angry how Snake was set up as a false protaganist, always expecting to get control of him again at some point. But I learned to love Raiden, especially by the end of the game, the anger from that initial sucker punch from Kojima eventually fading into sympathy and familiarity for the character.
I think it's because Raiden felt more like a mystery, more of a blank slate you as the player could inhabit, whereas Snake's character was always too well-defined and emotionally distant for you to really identify with, except of course as the bad ass hero of the story.
At the end of the game, where it seems like everyone knows more about all the crazy conspiracies that are going on than Raiden, and therefore you, does it really creates a feeling of mistrust and isolation towards the entire world of MGS that serves to help you bond with Raiden quickly, if not out of genuine fondness for him, then certainly out of desperation for a solid anchor amid a sea of uncertainty.
A legend.
Bearing witness to the entire lifespan of a group of characters is nothing short of epic.
Extremely short, super easy, but fun as hell.
So good.
Still jam to the soundtrack to this day.
