Sounds awesome. Yummy's right, Claire A/Leon B is the accepted view. The Resident Evil Wikia has an area about canon storylines and such if you want to look into that.

And play RE6. Though some hate it, others like me love it. It's best to see what side of the camp you fall on. Also, if you stretch things out into May, you can play Resident Evil Revelations when it comes out for consoles. That takes place before Resident Evil 5.

In regards to the spinoffs, I think they are worth playing. Umbrella Chronicles gives some insight into Umbrella and Wesker, and Darkside Chronicles makes Krauser from RE4 not feel totally random. Plus, it kind of resolves a loose plot thread from CVX. They aren't necessary, but I'd play them. Same goes for Survivor and Dead Aim. Though in those cases, they don't have much to do with anything. And they aren't exactly...good. There's also the Outbreaks. They're interesting to see the Raccoon City Incident from multiple viewpoints, and it has a couple of neat details, but again, it's in no way necessary. The Chronicles games and Revelations are the main spinoffs that are worth playing. I also personally think Operation Raccoon City has some cool stuff in it, and is better than the Survivors and Outbreaks, but that one's pretty rough around the edges. Play at your own risk.

As a side note, I've actually been creating movie versions of the entire series in chronological order, editing it into tight blocks and bouncing back and forth between events when necessary(such as the entire Raccoon City stuff). They're pretty awesome, and makes it way easier just to sit back and soak it all in. I cover everything from:

Resident Evil 0, REmake, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Code: Veronica X, Outbreak 1 and 2, Survivor, Dead Aim, Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles, Gaiden (I know it's issue with non-canonicity, I flubbed it a little), 4-D Executor (same as above), Operation Raccoon City (also same as above), Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 (Still working on that one)

The thing's mammoth. Right now it's split into 9/10 episodes, each movie length. Would put it online, but Youtube's kind of a pain. Is there any other way to do it that's feasible?

Whatever, back to the topic. Yeah, I would go whole hog if I was doing it, but your mileage may vary. At the very least, I would play RE6 since you're definitely playing all the other main entries. I leave the spinoffs up to you.

Given your general taste in games, and because I recall you admitting that you like these sorts of games just so you can hack and slash stuff, I'm not wholly surprised.

Lol, can't tell if that was an insult or a keen observation, but it doesn't bother me regardless. :) It's true, I just like seeing the story, the feel of the gameplay, and just the overall experience. I don't need it to be difficult. Heck, I play DMC1 on Easy Auto. I know that's nigh blasphemous, but that's just how I enjoy games nowadays. When I was a kid, I loved playing hard crap, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Actually, part of the reason I prefer it is because I really like the improved sword and general animations and increased locomotive stuff(like running up walls without having to switch to a specific style, which I feel was a huge faus pax on DMC3). Also, I like city based stuff much more than a castle setting. Plus, no "fill your dark soul with light" moments. At least DMC2 Dante is in character with the anime version of him, where he's just on normal jobs and isn't really excited. DMC1 Dante is just too melodramatic about everything. I swear, for the people who were calling DmC Dante emo, he doesn't have anything on DMC1 Dante.

You should be fine points wise. I actually usually put points in two guns, though one not so much as the other. Also, I'm pretty dang sure you can change class in ME2, unless I'm totally just remembering wrong. And as others have said, Paragon is always top right, renegade bottom right.

I'm like you, where I don't really care about challenge, so I played on Easy. It's totally fine. I barely died, and I'm certainly not the best player in the world. Plus, the game introduces stuff to you gradually enough that you should be able to get the hang of it. I actually don't know if I even used healing items throughout, so you even have access to stuff like that.

Hot dang. Game's absolutely gorgeous on PC. Too bad I don't have the juice to run it. :(

I enjoyed the platforming in this way more than the original games. The crappy camera in those made the sequences a righteous pain.

I have the Alert sound from Metal Gear as my message sound, and then CODEC for phone call right now.

While I really like most of what I see there, the bit about most of the story being told in CODEC with little cutscenes has me extremely worried. I hope that doesn't mean there's only like thirty minutes of story in the game or something. The CODEC, while fun to have in the demo, mainly just slowed things down by having you slow down and talk Gears of War style as you were doing stuff, which was kind of clunky for such a fast game. At least cutscenes can be far more kinetic.

Glad he enjoyed it, but I don't know what he sees in it. Granted, I haven't played it myself, but everything I've seen looks incredibly subpar. Clunky, one melee weapon for the whole friggin' game, each zombie taking a ton of hits to kill(specifically four for the most part), a medicore looking story, but a couple of neat gimmicks. Maybe I'd feel different if I played it(which won't happen, due to me having NO interest in a WiiU), but that being said, I just think it looks blah.
