I don't care about the texture pop-in, having played plenty of unreal engine 3 games, but the constant texture flickering is making it unplayable.

Whole sections of the world disappearing, even the letterbox during cutscenes flickers in and out.

I mean if everything else ran perfectly, I could ignore the pop-in, but honestly it should not be happening at all.

somebody posted this video of the pop-in issues on youtube. As far as I can tell from comments on another board, these issues are happening for a majority of players, if not UNIVERSALLY.

Buyer beware.

Also, guess we know why they were just showing the console versions, huh?

Yeah that's exactly what is happening :[@Sin4profit said:

@REIGN: Yep, same issues and a lot of people in the Steam forums are having the same issues as well with a variety of system set ups including ATI/AMD & Nvidia cards.

I'm about to install the ATI Rage Performance drivers but everyone in the Steam forums say it doesn't fix the problem and some say it makes things worse.

Man, this is disappointing.

Let me know how the drivers go for you.

It really is a bummer, because the game looks amazing while standing still (^screenie I just took- the textures look super clean, but the pop-in just kills the immersion)

So i just played about 20 minutes or so of Rage on my PC...

...and it was underwhelming to say the least.

The graphics were really buggy-

As in some of the characters were literally blinking in and out of reality

There was weird tearing of some of the HUD that would flash up

There wasn't just a little texture pop-in, but every single time your would rotate your vision, all the textures that you weren't looking at would pop-in....every single time. Worst pop-in I've ever seen.

Oh...and there aren't ANY video settings in the game other than brightness and anti-aliasing. Nothing at all.

I'm playing on an Athlon X4 955 / 4GB Ram / HD 6950 2GB rig with the most recent drivers.

Anyone else having problems? Because I've never even thought of asking for a refund on Steam, but I just might for this one.

Have fun. I'll be playing busy playing BF3 while you whine about distribution methods.

I listen to a lot of gaming podcasts, but one that I never see in these threads is TalkRadar (GamesRadar's podcast)

Seriously, listen to it. It's hilarious, and is usually ~2 hours each week which is a plus (for me at least)

@IcySandman: Yeah, I just half-rebuilt my computer myself because it was time to upgrade, but I wanted to keep it (relatively cheap).

I got a new CPU, motherboard, ram, and a gfx card.

Kept my old PSU, case, hdd, drives etc.

It cost me just under ~$400 after rebates and now I pretty much have a computer that runs everything out there at high settings with a decent framerate.

"  Oh uh, I'd never consider getting a console, sorry.  I've seen quad core processors on sale often at fries, would that be better than an I3 or I5?  I think I'll keep my graphics card for now; Still runs alot of new stuff pretty well in High settings..   "
I assume you're aware that your motherboard can only accept certain processors right? (It's a Socket 775).

While buying one could boost your performance, it wouldn't be all that great as far as bang for your buck goes.

If you're looking to get a newer processor, you're going to need a new motherboard (AM3 for the current AMD line, or LGA 1156 for most of the Intel i-series)

On top of that, you'll need to buy new ram that is compatible with the new motherboard.

If you do all this, you'd want to buy at least a decent graphics card (8800GT is still pretty good though, i JUST upgraded mine to a GTX 460), and then might need a PSU upgrade since we're unaware of what yours is.

tl:dr = if you want more performance, look into basically building a new computer from the ground up so you don't waste money on minor upgrades.
