I didn't put a ton of time in to it, just did each mission once and then redid the second one again. I found the controls to feel clunky, especially the ascent/descent. And like @notsosneakyguy said, I felt like I didn't have enough fingers to push everything I needed to at once. But learning that you can remap them will probably help, and seeing that different mech parts can dramatically change your speed and boost makes me want to give it a little more time.

Plus, I never got my hands on a sword, and how can I judge it before swinging a sword?

I'm trying to sqeeze Horizon: Zero Dawn and Night in the Woods in before they drop their GOTY podcasts. Haven't started NitW yet, but I'm loving Horizon. I got tired of a lot of the ubisoft-style big open world games a few years back, so I haven't played any Far Cry, AC, Mordor, Just Cause, or similar games since getting a PS4 three years ago (I did play Breath of the Wild which I guess does count in that group but that's been it). Because of this, I think a lot of the aspects of Horizon that are shared with those games (collectibles marked by zones on map, enemy camps you need to clear to take over, "towers") don't feel as worn out as they did to me a couple years back. It all feels really fresh, and the presentation is beautiful. I think it's found a way on to my personal top 5 for the year and I still have a lot of it to go. Hoping it doesn't wear itself out before I can finish.

@rubberluffy: That's what I found out right after sending the game back. But I caught a boot in the other area so I thought I was on the right track and just couldn't get a hang of it.

I gave the original Nier a shot on gamefly around when it came out because I had a friend who raved about it. I didn't love it all that much, but I hit some fishing section that I was stuck on for over an hour and I got so frustrated I sent the game back and struck it from the record.

I played the Nier Automata demo twice (normal then hard), I really like it. I barely scratched the surface of Nier, but this feels a lot different from what I remember, in a great way. It felt really good, and I now can't wait for the sequel of a game I couldn't bother to give a real fighting chance. I wasn't impressed by the dialogue, but I feel like I come to games like this for the gameplay and (hopefully RPG elements), and I'll go play something more story driven when I want more of that.

F**k that fishing minigame.

Not adding anything new here, but I love Idle Thumbs/Weekend, Watch Out For Fireballs and Bonfireside Chat, Waypoint Radio, and Coolgames Inc.
