I jumped back into Returnal in a major way and have basically mainlined the game. Looking forward to getting to the end but also I don't really want to stop playing. It's an amazing game!

I already feel like there are more weapons that I won't ever use, and maybe more choices than I need, but I also know there are plenty of 'build-centric' folks out there who love messing with that stuff and creating a playstyle they prefer. Maybe it feels a little out of place in a narrative driven game. I wanna like Nioh more than I do but one of the reasons is how menu heavy it is. So I'll chalk it all up to personal preference. I suppose choice isn't worse and I can avoid it most of the time.

I definitely think that maybe they overthought the amount of weapons in the game. You only really ever seem to need two or three variants?

If yall are still running into this, can you try another browser (Firefox/Edge) and also an incognito window in Chrome (assuming that's what you're using) and let me know if this still happens for you?

I still need to finish this but I bounced off of it pretty hard. Some of the control schemes just felt like they were designed by someone who hadn't seen a video game in a decade.

I stopped buying consoles after losing two 360s to hardware failures and I will not ever go back. Having a mid-range PC is so much more useful to me than a console with the newest graphics. I don't mind waiting years for PC ports, and Square Enix usually ports things after their exclusivity expires.

Unfortunately, SE's digital sales are not great, and I still have games from 2016 in my wishlist that never dip below $30. Also, SE's FF series has not been very good, with 15 being a bit better after a long dry spell of boring schlock. Oh well. There are a billion other games that I can play in the mean time.

FFXV was such an odd entry into the series. It almost felt like two games in that you have a big open-world but then suddenly you go on rails for the last half of the game and never really return to the open world. I know it was in development hell forever; hopefully 16 feels more coherent.

“Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing,” Yoshi-P said. “Why is it like a PC version is releasing six months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5! Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best so please look forward to it.”

Interesting to hear someone from Square laugh off the idea of a PC port of this game - it seems like everything that Square has been doing has been heading to PC after a year or so, for better or worse (that FF7R port was functional but extremely bare-bones). I assume that the same will play out here, but possibly Yoshi can't actually confirm that until the exclusivity window is over. Also possibly this is very tongue in cheek and being taken literally!

I really wish Square would spend more time on their PC ports, though. I didn't see any crazy complaints about the Crisis Core remake, but FFVIIR was notably bad for such a huge game. Sounds like they're gonna have time for the XVI port since it doesn't sound like it'll happen anytime soon.

Ubisoft has announced that it has, for the sixth time, delayed Skull & Bones, as well as canceled three more unannounced games amid "major challenges" in the industry, the underperformance of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023, and an upcoming "restructuring."

Six times! As of now the game is slated to launch between April and December of this year. I can't imagine this game will ever turn a profit after a decade or so of development but I'll be curious to see if it ever actually releases. Is Beyond Good and Evil 2 still on the docket?

Lately I have been very interested in games that I can play in half-hour bursts, which is why I spend a lot f time in Magic Arena. Also I've been interested more in FPS games with good campaigns lately; I should really go back and finish off Doom Eternal now that I'm thinking of it. I still prefer FPS' with mouse and keyboard.

Right now I'm just playing a mountainload of Returnal which is scratching a lot of itches for me. Very difficult but manageable and I feel like I'm making good progression.

I just replayed the single player of this and it's still fantastic, aside from the janky framerate in the overworld sections. Might have to try another community co-op corner sometime for the single-player game!
