@cikame: Lucky Star GIFs | Tenor For some reason (that reason being me) this gif has been circulating in my non-anime friends' chat room so I started looking into rewatching it. I have VRV which is Crunchyroll + a bunch of other stuff but only available in the US, and I noticed they don't have Lucky Star! Funimation does have it though, which also has better options for dubs, so that might be a good option for you. I've been thinking about switching over myself since my wife prefers dubs.

I haven't used the SN30 Pro (haven't even heard of it), but MadCatz has ruined me on 3rd party controllers. I would be game to check out a new controller, but it's hard to try before you buy these days....

I personally love the Switch Pro controller. Long charge, good inputs, and still works 100% compared to my JoyCons (a few have drift even after sending in for repairs, and one JoyCon has an unresponsive trigger). I'm not so down on the D-pad as others, but I also default to the stick whenever possible. The price really is the biggest issue for me.

For my own curiosity I did a quick Google search for PC compatibility. The SN30 Pro touts a lot of different compatibilities (from their website: Windows, macOS, Android, Steam, Switch, Raspberry Pi), whereas the Switch Pro would need more finagling outside of Steam games. Just an FYI if you're also in need of a PC controller!

When I looked through the list, my first thought was "this can't POSSIBLY be all that was released, right? I've been playing some many games lately, how could Animal Crossing be the only game on this list?!" But lo and behold, unlike the last few years, my 2020 gaming has been dominated by backlog catch-up. There's 2, maybe 3 games on that list that I'd like to hit before end of the year, but they can't pull me away from the allure of rediscovering Bloodborne and freshly discovering Dark Souls 3.

That said, I've only played 2 other games from this year, a pittance compared to my gaming over the last few years. One of those games is Deep Rock Galactic which others here have mentioned. I found it kinda samey from the some hours I've played, and the solo experience is not particularly interesting to me, but the game really shines when you get even one other person in on the action. You can tell the game was designed for co-op when you start comparing the class abilities.

My current 2020 front runner is Signs of the Sojourner, which also comes with a hearty recommendation from an Austin Walker! The abstraction of dialogue through cards, the way speech differs from culture to culture, is simple but effective, and though I'm only halfway through my first run (there are multiple outcomes at the end of the game), it's given me my only unique 2020 gaming experience so far, that being getting angry at a timid rail worker for not understanding me when perhaps we just couldn't understand each other. If you picked up itch.io's massive Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, you already have it, so check it out! It's worth 4 to 5 hours of your time!

I've only started messing around with cocktails for a few years now and I typically fall on the non-tiki side of things (I have some rums but can't be bothered to have all those juices around when I'm usually leaning away from the fruity), so I'm not familiar with any of the drinks and liquor you mentioned above. Naturally, Google informed me a bit, and apparently Licor 43's very vanilla-forward, followed behind by some fruity and some cinnamon. This sounds weird in the Painkiller recipes I looked up, like the whole flavor would just get muddy in the end? One site did suggest adding the 43 to a screwdriver, so maybe it's not out of the question.

But hey, if you have the ingredients, it's always worth a shot! I wouldn't have found out a mule using Kahlua is a disgusting idea if I didn't go for it!

Bloodborne: Did you know there's multiplayer connectivity in this game? Played it near launch solo and loved it, but I pulled this back out to play with a friend who's played all the other Souls games and finally got to this one. Playing multiplayer seemed a bit wonky at first, but just set a common pass and server with another person, get on voice chat, and just have a good time! Plus, seeing so many optional things I missed the first time through has been an absolute blast. So many optional bosses and NPC quests along with finally dipping into Old Hunters makes this game feel like a P4 Golden-esque treatment to my first experience! Also, my friend has been hyping me up for some orphan? Can't wait!

Valkyria Chronicles 4: Jumped right into this after finishing VC1, and though playing sequels right after the first game usually pushes me away from the new game (sorry KOTOR2 and Fallout 2, I'll come back to you one day!), this one's got my attention right from the get-go. Taking the same war from the first game and giving you a very different perspective is filling me in on a whole faction that was basically just a narrative tool in the first game. Also, the jump from VC1 to VC4 gave more impact to the graphical jump in quality! Also also, grenadiers yum yum!

Ring Fit Adventure: With my gym still closed for quarantine, it's been really nice to have this to motivate me to get up 2 1/2 hours before work and keep active. And getting that "yay the numbers went up" feel because I'm exercising is great!

Animal Crossing: I love the soulless vacuum that is Coco's eyes on what is otherwise a pretty chill resident.

Dark Souls - A refining of the core tenets of Demon Souls, then injecting a unique sense of exploration I had not experienced in a game to that point. A lot of nostalgia there, but that nostalgia's worth its weight in gold to me.

Bloodborne - With Jan replaying this game on the site and a buddy of mine currently playing it, I decided to pull this back out and co-op with him. My first playthrough felt like a successful reimagining of the Souls formula in a new, intriguing setting. Playing through it again, I've been chatting with my buddy and looking things up as we play, and being able to dig through the lore, compare my build and playstyle to his, I can see how this tops so many peoples' Souls list.

Sekiro - Bloodborne but play like this in a medieval Japanese setting. Happily, I obliged. The somewhat straightforward and forward-facing story was kind of strange and a little flat to me, but the gameplay and setting hit all the right marks for me.

Demons Souls - Sometimes it's nice to find out the hype is real, and it was for me with Demons Souls. I remember liking Dark Souls by miles when I played it, having dropped the World Stages structure, but everything we love in a Souls game is in this, and you always remember your first.

Dark Souls 2 - I'm not entirely sure what it was that rubbed me wrong with this game. I still enjoyed it, but I didn't get those same feelings of wanderlust and curiosity as I got with every other Souls game above.

Dark Souls 3 - Have not finished - only defeated a handful of bosses - so it really shouldn't be on the list. Wasn't in the right headspace when the game came out, but I hope to remedy that soon!

Well, I'm on my second day of WoH in Vegas. I'm bouncing between my house and my in-laws. We're very lucky in this regard: 1) not only can we stand them, we actually enjoy being with them!, 2) we have an 8-month-old they've been helping us care for and we've been in regular contact with them this whole time, so exposure doesn't really change here, and 3) they live very close to us, a very short drive from home. The only hiccups here are one person works in university but it's transitioned into online courses only, and another person is still working the job normally, meeting *new* people around the city to make contacts. The latter case seems to be due to their boss having just getting off a two-week cruise yesterday and only discovering what the state of the world is now (some Jared Leto shit here; hell, I didn't realize there were cruises still going). It's been really nice to take a short break here and there to make faces at my son and listen to his laugh during the work day, I can't believe how fortunate I am in this regard.

The rest of my work is ignoring the Governor's "order" for non-essential businesses to close, which really upsets me. I get it, it's a small engineering firm (relatively low exposure to the outside) and we all have partial ownership of it, no boss but ourselves to be accountable to. We all have the option to work from home though, and they don't seem to realize they're picking the convenience of working in the office over the health of friends, family, co-workers, and the community in general. One co-worker in particular, his SO runs a friggin' daycare, and those're considered essential businesses. The dominoes are falling....

What really kills me though is my family. Like a good Filipino family, my sisters and mother are all in the medical field. We decided last week to completely quarantine ourselves from each other, but when my Mom asked if he and Dad could see our son last weekend, I decided we should stick to the quarantine. Now, with the Governor's order, it feels like I took away their last chance to see their grandson for who knows how long.

Honestly, it's been easy to set these few negatives aside when I have my wife and son with me, but things really have shaken up around here. Seeing the queue of people outside the supermarket waiting for their turn to enter, cars darting between parking lots desperately trying to pick up what little may be left, the amount of traffic that is somehow on the roads, it's an experience, to be sure.

I wanted to end my little mini-blog with a phone video I shot of the Strip, but I'm not sure how to. Can anyone spot me here? It's surreal, being able to drive down the majority of the Strip in under 10 minutes, I thought people would be interested in seeing it.

I would select "Like It!" in the poll if the option was there. Now that I'm working from home, I've been able to watch live and keep up with chat more which has been a lot of fun, but once we're passed all this, I wouldn't have the same level of engagement, so having at least a second person on stream to bounce off would be nice (kinda experiencing it with watching some on demand content I missed). It's basically a typical Twitch stream with a GB duder.

Just predownloaded Animal Crossing, my first predownload, can't wait! My wife had to talk me down from getting a Switch and second copy, actually (it's been a chore trying to figure out the best way we can play together).

I'm always interested and on the edge of picking up Doom 2016 but I haven't been able to make the jump yet, even at $15 sales.
