Daily Game Log 1.4.21

I play games almost every day. I do a poor job of archiving my experiences. I am too focused on writing reviews. I will still write reviews but I will try and keep better track of what I'm playing. All of this cloud storage and I really didn't archive what I played in 2020. Yes, I could go back and look at my achievements (though the new Xbox iOS app obscures how important achievements are). My reviews are great for what I actually beat but does not account for what i put down in any significant way. I could go into how much I hated Persona 5 after 100 hours and not even the Persona 5 Royal complete edition could ever bring me back to that game. It's just bad JRPG and confirms how much i hate those kind of games.

The first game i played in 2021 was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. I have learned to just play one match and move on with life. The commitment is too much and the addiction to go back and do better is too great. Part of the reason I am looking to only play side-scrollers is that I'm just sick of how similar 3rd-person and 1st-person games are starting to all be. I have spent the last 2 decades chasing 3rd person. Right up until we got VR which is the ultimate recreation of first person and 3rd person *golf clap* we did it. I've neglected 2D for so long that if i stick to those games only in 2021 I might actually catch up with some of the biggest gaps in my gaming life.

The first game 2-D game i booted up in 2021 was Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. I thought I might have Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons through games with gold or something. Between Epic, Steam, and Xbox (gwg and gamepass) I probably do have it. So I played Max for about an hour and I enjoyed what I played. I jumped into Neon Abyss and it's got 11.5 hours of gameplay ahead of me. I'm looking forward to playing more fighting games and getting around to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the Assassin's Creed Chronicles, River City Ransom, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

Hopefully I can knock out a bunch of games, write a bunch of reviews, and get enough 2D knowledge under my belt that I won't need the new consoles (PS5 and Series X) because I'll be looking to replay games and post some unbeatable times on my Xbox Live account. Lets-a-go.
