I'm guessing this thread got necroed because Jim Sterling did a video on him that featured devil horns on his head.

I don't think firing Kotick will fix anything, if anything his video proves the point that some other asshole will come in and basically do the exact same thing Kotick is doing. We really have to change the system. Agree with me or not, 800 people being fired because of company growth isn't good.

Anyway, support indie development and unions and such among other things.

People like to shit on Andromeda, but it does everything Anthem does, but better. Better loot, better crafting, better story, better combat, more abilities, I honestly am kinda shocked in the state this game is in.

But I blame the publisher more than the dev. I'd also recommend checking out indie crowdfunded RPGs.

I like this game better than Destiny and I liked Mass Effect Andromeda's combat, but this game is fucked for reasons that have already been mentioned. In fact, I might start a poll on which issue this game has that people think is the worst.

1. Loading times
2. Poor combat feedback (meaning it's hard to tell which direction you're getting hit from and prioritize enemies, this game could use a cover system, IMHO)
3. The tomb challenge bullshit
4. The bad loot economy and lack of loot in general. This really shouldn't have been a loot game. Or at least not in the state the game is in.
5. Worthless crafting system. I liked the one from Andromeda in comparison and I can't believe I'm saying that.
6. Bugs (Though to be expected I guess)

I could mention the way the pacing is, the mission structure and the story are also flaws, but they're flaws that are inherit with the genre, sadly. I liked the B-movie Mass Effect that Andromeda was going for, but this game requires a lot of reading encyclopedia's worth of information if you want to understand the terminology.

I don't like it. I don't like how enemies have resistances to certain types of weaponry. That's a big nono for me in shooters. Good thing Game Pass exists. Jumping around only gives you so much defense when the enemies have hitscan weapons. I am playing on the second to hardest difficulty (the one above normal) and while it isn't frustrating, it's just meh. I can see this game saved by co-op, but I dunno.

I actually liked Crackdown 2 and thought that it was slightly better than the first game, but I played that co-op with my roommate back in the day. They should make it backwards compatible.

Hate the man for a decade, but he's still laughing all the way to the bank. Stop hating the man, start hating the game.

I can understand why people love this game. As someone who loves the Piranha Bytes games, however, it fell flat. Nearly every aspect of janky European RPG game design has been done better in Gothic 2 and even Elex. I don't get why people think this game is a 'mature, realistic, immersive experience'... scratch that, I do, but I don't agree. It's very childish in how it presents themes of sexuality and manhood and maturity.

At the end of the day? It is a modern day Gothic with high production values. And that is not a bad thing (I played the shit out of Gothic and Risen). But when you hear everyone screaming how amazing and revolutionary and unique it is, it gets kind of annoying. Which tends to lead to a lot more gleeful mockery of it.

^^That's my opinion in a nutshell, basically.

It very much has that STALKER feel to it, albeit with much much better shooting. I'm sorry, I don't like the ballistics crap the STALKER games have. It also has some great character development if you stop and look around. The pacing could be a bit better as it seems the game desperately wants to get moving to its opened up adventure, but that's really nit-picky.

Watching the quick look and it seems like my hindsight that this was a mouse and keyboard game is confirmed. The game actually plays quite nicely with a mouse and keyboard and I couldn't imagine aiming with a gamepad. The Epic Store thing is sad, but I don't mind personally.

Honestly, I don't care if a game takes advantage of hardware so long as it's an overall good game. Hardware is what we throw away after a few years (if that), games are what we enjoy. Some people really like 4k billion FPS games, but I'd much rather spend money on games than spend them on things that allow them to have better lighting. I'll say that if these consoles aren't backwards compatible, I don't think the console industry is going to last much longer. People aren't going to buy $400-500 boxes every year or two just to play Halo 8.

As for how long I play games that take 'advantage' of the hardware, I probably play 50-50. I enjoy Night in the Woods and the AAA games, but mostly I stick to PC for that nowadays. It's more optimizing than taking advantage of the hardware. A game can run at 4k and bring the machine to its knees only for a better looking game to come along in 4k and not tax the hardware as much.
