I remember when this podcast first started. Rarely did the hosts talk about anything other than video games. While that wasn’t always what I wanted from the crew, I always had the Bombcast to listen to when I wanted to hear information about video game news and the opinions of the duders.

I am listening to this episode as I write this comment, waiting for the crew to get to the video games. I have now hit 9:00 minutes. So far they have only talked about people that I don’t know, restaurants that I don’t know, and anything they can to not talk about video games.

This is the same thing that happened to IGN, GameSpot, Waypoint, Kinda Funny and nearly every other video game site I have been a fan of over the years. Bummer.

I am now at 13:00 minutes and they STILL are just rambling. Grubb said they wanted the bombcast to be “more fun for lack of a better word” on Game Mess the other day. While I can see how some people could enjoy this, I am not here for parasocial relationships with y’all. I respect y’alls desire to change but this is not the direction that I personally enjoy. I do not know how much longer I will be able to listen to the Bombcast.

What Bombcast have you been listening to? It has always, since the very very start, had plenty of tangents about things that are not video games, that has always been a thing, early episodes literally had sections dedicated to talking about energy drinks. I'm not sure how you're only noticing this now, after 14 years?

I echo the sentiments of anti marvel stuff being a bit boring. And moaning about games websites covering them seems a bit silly when currently this site has shows on bad music, power rangers and whatever Reel Layers is.

Yes, because comparing websites that put out 5 different articles about Marvel related things every day to GB having a podcast about power rangers once every week is totally fair.

I think the GTA online got a bad rap even though it's not as bad as nonfans think. Nonfans hop on, notice they cant (as an example) jump into the raid of destiny style content as a level 1, then complain, play a bit, get into one bad experience with randos, ask why randos shooting you isnt taken off the game...miss the other points of what made GTA the phenomenon today...then quit and keep the hot take that its a messy slog and needs updates and patches.

Its the same thing I saw at release...people played it, it was day one or month of glitches you get in something so big...add to that low content...people call it trash, never play it for like a year...hear it blew up and ask why when its bad...go back in, hate it more cause there is too much content unlike before so on so on.

Most of these online games could use some onboarding but in reality, if you're running a company making millions off the fanbase, do you waste tons of money trying to bring in the dudet that will likely still not like your game after you ease em in. I tried destiny and it's confusing, but for years i see the crew who was consistent with it having a fine time...its likely not as confusing as i think and they made it easier for new players, tons of content But it doesn't matter. Ill probably never play it as much as their die hards. Keep them happy ill wait for GTA 6 or Destiny. Why force it. There's something special there but its too late to board that train the easy way. Now ya gotta play the game...and most new players don't.

The problem with GTA Online for new players isn't that it's confusing, it's that basically all of the content that is actually worth doing requires you to first buy something in the game that costs millions of dollars, which means that before you can even do anything remotely interesting, you have to do a bunch of boring jobs or competitive modes grinding for hours before you get enough money to buy/do anything interesting.

If you go into GTA Online and want to do anything remotely interesting, you have to either grind for tens of hours of doing boring shit, or spend a bunch of real money on their shark card microtransactions. Additionally, as far as I know, most of the new content is missions that require several people and can't be played solo, so either you also need to get someone else you know to play it with you or play it with random people, which is going to be terrible most of the time.

Is it just me or does the game footage in this seems to be slightly delayed? People keep commenting on things before you see them happen in the footage.

I love Giant Bomb. I've been a part of this community for nearly a decade. I've seen a lot of the ups and downs of this site as a fan, and I've always been here for it.

..until today. Reel Layers was just not fun to watch or listen to in any way. I'm happy for the people that can find enjoyment in this, but I don't understand how they are doing so.

It's a parody of a parody.. of a parody? Am I getting that right? Whatever the intent was, I can't imagine it's landing in the way y'all intended. This is a mediocre-at-best idea executed poorly.

The voice of whoever is doing the VO gets grating after just a few seconds. The entire conceipt of the video unravels after a joke misses the mark. It just leaves me wondering how this fits into Giant Bomb long-term. I sure as hell don't want to pay for it as part of GB Premium.

Again, love y'all and some of the new projects are dope af, but please reconsider how to move forward with this project, or whether to move forward with it at all.

I'm not sure where you're getting the parody of a parody of a parody? It's just a parody of video essays that over-analyze something and inject non-existent meaning into something so the creator can make himself appear really smart, that's all it is.

Wow, when Voidburger first showed in GB stuff I thought that name sounded familiar but I couldn't remember where, only now when it's pointed out I realize it's from all those old SA let's plays, cool.

What the hell, is Douglas just supposed to be Steven Seagal? His portrait looks almost exactly like him, he's dressed like something Steven Seagal would wear in one of his movies and he even sorta fights the same way.

Man, the music in this section at least is very Ennio Morricone. The music in Red Dead 1 was definitely somewhat generic, but it felt more original than this. Some parts of this sounded like straight up For a Few Dollars More.

Did you actually play RDR1? Its sountrack is fucking incredible, I'd say it's one of the best game soundtracks of the last few generations.

Love the series, but please don't use the term "spirit animal", Abby. It appropriates Indigenous religious practices and doesn't need to be used. It is much nicer just to ask someone what animals they particularly like.

Please tell me this is a joke.

There are several things in Denmark that are meant to put you off getting a car, like there's some pretty heavy tax on owning a car and the government will even give you some money every year simply for not owning a car. I went to university in Copenhagen for one and a half years and even I got that payout once even though I just lived there.
