For me the lack of the "fill browser" feature is the biggest downgrade, I used that on pretty much every video I watched on the site. I really hope that comes back soon enough.

This was the very first time I made use of the steam refund system. Hopefully they'll grant me the money back despite my being some 20 minutes over the limit due to that I left the game running in the main menu while I was cooking.

I cannot even begin to believe how much I disliked this. I feel so incredibly cheated, an experience I've never had to this extent with a video-game before. I've been disappointed, sure, but not to this extent. I LOVED Limbo. The play-time is one thing, but the game itself is so absurdly simplistic. There's none of the clever puzzle solving that made Limbo so special to me. So much of the world is just dead and bland and grey. Any personality comes through only in set moments that you're supposed to be looking at. And they actually pad the fucking thing out by having you run back and forth over too long hallways, with nothing to look at, again and again and again.

Jesus. I'm glad you guys enjoyed this. To each their own and all that. I probably would have for 5 bucks, too. But even then, it'd be a 3 star experience for me, at most. For 20 bucks, mind you.. Just no.

What? Inside's puzzles were way more varied and interesting than ones in Limbo, all the puzzles in Limbo were basically just "jump over things" or "drag a thing to a thing". Also, the thing about running back and forth is straight up a lie, you have to do that maybe like once and even then it's not something that takes long.

Does solving that puzzle do anything? Because I could not tell that it did.

It activates the laser, but either of the big panels on top of the tower do it. So if you do one of them, the other one will do nothing.

I think the level design in HM2 is waay way worse than the first one and that's the biggest letdown. Almost every level now just has way too many enemies with guns and a ton of areas that are just big open rooms that you can't see the end of and there's guys with guns at the end who will just shoot you without you even knowing how where they are. And some of the new characters are terrible to play as. The swans are just completely broken, the one with the gun always lags behind and gets stuck on walls all the time and she only seems to pick up guns when she wants to. And the dude you play as in the military levels is just terrible, as he can't pick up any guns, so you always end up having almost no ammo at all and his levels seem to be entirely designed around you spending most of the time shooting your way through.

You can't mess up a franchise that has been dead for more than 10 years.

If your expectation for a new Silent Hill game is "it needs to be as good as one of the greatest games ever made (SH2)", then you're obviously going to be disappointed.

Honestly I find this ''Silent Hill has been dead for 10 years'' sentiment to be such bullshit. Shattered Memories probably has one of the better stories in the whole series, and for all of their problems Homecoming and Downpour have exquisite atmosphere, Downpour especially. Downpour's open world format also made for an interesting move and it was great to be able to explore a vast expanse of the town. Some of its side-stories were also really creative, like one that has you walk inside a film, or another where you can rewind and fast-forward a scene of a murder with the use of a gramophone.

Shattered Memories was interesting, but it wasn't really Silent Hill. Downpour and Homecoming were both pretty much just super generic horror games that had almost nothing that made Silent Hill actually good.

I think the creation system is great, I like it way more than any other game, I am so goddamn tired of messing with millions of sliders and manually putting random stuff into random stats. And I've been able to make a pretty decent looking female character pretty easily, I don't see a problem with that.

And I noticed that your character looks almost better in-game than in the creator.

I hope they get Vinny to play it, he would do an amazing job at showing off the open world stuff. I'd rather not have the quick look just have them do a bunch of missions.
