I don't understand how this could go so bad for them... honestly seems like a prejudiced judge.

They did take UE3, modify it and went off to call it their own engine, so they had to have seen it coming to them

Awesome news. If it was CJ, Claude and Tommy, I think everyone would explode in excitement.

Don't know why people clamor for them. I'll be honest, I can't remember shit about CJ or Claude's characters or story.

In my mind, GTA games are like Final Fantasy games. New game, new cast. Why bring on old characters for no reason other than in service to fans rather than story? While certain characters are great, the games are long enough that you feel you've spent enough time with them and have seen the end of their character arc. So there really is no need to see more of them. Just keep bringing on new characters and new stories.

I think it would just be cool to have some continuation between GTA games, and I was hoping this would be the very first one to do that.

Did you not play any of the pre-GTAIV games? All of those games were hugely connected, with a shitload of recurring characters and a fuckload of references to events in other games. Starting with GTAIV they're also starting a totally new continuity, meaning all the previous stuff is a completely seperate story. They did say there will be at least some characters who will be returning from GTAIV.

I meant the actual protagonist going from one game to another, sorry it wasn't clear.

That wouldn't work, really, each GTA game tells a very different story, you couldn't do that with the same protagonist without it being weird.

I think the lack of a female protagonist is in this is because it seems like the story is going to be very much "different guys brought together by crime" and there's probably gonna be a lot of "they're not so different after all" going around in the story, so having one of the protagonists be female wouldn't work in that.

I had wanted to play with a base of diverse characters of both genders, I'd even like to have a way to change the race, gender, and orientation of the characters. Therefore, it is somewhat troubling that they want back to the well with the old characters.

I would have preferred playing a gang banger who could have been white, asian, latino, black, or native american. I'd like to play a NY gangster who is white, asian, latino, black, or native american, or a Miami gangster who was white, asian, latino, black, or native american.

I cannot imagine why they didn't make a game that allowed a bit more choice in 2013. Not because it is trendy or fair, but because it speaks to the diversity that is on the ground in California. If they want to tell one story with a specific character they should DO SO, but when they have three (and probably more) that are rigidly defined it just starts to seem like a miss opportunity.

Full customization like that just would not work in a GTA game. Protagonists in GTA games are always extremely developed characters and they're all completely defined in such a way that changing their race would completely destroy that character.

Why do people want to play this with a controller? This is exactly the kind of game that has to be played with mouse and keyboard, the amount of precision with the aiming it requires is only really possible when you use the mouse to aim, it would be impossible with a controller.

Only on chapter 4 (got stuck with the bomb sequence, have no idea where to go next) and playing with M+K but I think it would be possible with a controller- for me a lot of the range/aiming kills I get by locking on first while around a corner, then popping out and shooting/throwing things anyway. Or running into a room and wacking dudes before they can shoot me- neither really require that precise aiming tbh

That might work for the first part of the game but later on, when you have to run into a room, lock onto one guy, take him out, then lock onto another guy and take him out before any of them can fuck you up would seem super hard with a controller. Really quick and precise aiming is key when the game gets properly hard.

@Ghost_Cat: I was just thinking that, a level editor for this would be awesome and probably wouldn't be hard to use.

This game is indeed amazing, all the action is very quick, brutal and requires extreme precision but that just makes everything so much more satisfying when you succesfully pass a level.

Also has there been any word on the guys doing a quick look of it?

Can't wait, GTAIV is still in my top 3 of favourite games of all time and Rockstar hasn't made anything I didn't like so I'm certain GTAV is gonna be amazing. I just hope it gets at least a little more PC love this time.
