Was this game not on PC? I thought I remember having it on PC...

It's on PC. Played through it many years ago and it was definitely on PC. And just checked Origin, it's there. Probably also on Steam at this point.

it's on PC but the controller support isn't great apparently and there are serious issues with M+KB smoothing which makes it nearly unplayable without mods. It's also prone to a few bugs, including a full-on progression-stopping glitch at the end with the moving pillars, which I ran into. AFAIK the console version is the easiest one to jump in to.

Controller support is fine assuming you're using an Xinput compatible controller - which anyone would be at this point. Way back in 2008 when the game out, the use of XBox controllers on PC wasn't quite as ubiquitous yet.

The only bug with the KB & mouse controls is that the in-game vsync is busted. It locks the game to 30ps (despite it being capable of running 60fps without issue) and introduces serious mouse lag. This is easily remedied by simply turning off the in-game vsync and then using video card profile to force vysnc. This resolves the mouse lag and will allow the game to run at 60fps. There are some potentially game breaking issues if you run it at a completely unlocked framerate. On modern hardware the game runs at really high framerates and there are a few sequence breaks and physics bugs if it runs too fast, so you just need to make sure you use video card vysnc or other tools to cap the framerate.

For Abby, who I don't think has much experience messing with this stuff, console is fine. However, I've replayed Dead Space on PC like every other year since it came out, including as recently as October 2019 and it's still absolutely acceptable on PC as long as you have basic PC game tweaking knowledge.

I was curious about this "Murphy's Miracle Oil" that Abby said she used on her chair and had from working on her moped because I work on motorcycles (as a hobby not professionally) and had never heard of it. Only thing I could find is that this might be the old name of a product now called "Marvel's Mystery Oil". This a fuel additive and not a dedicated lubricant. No wonder she stunk up her place if this is indeed what she used.

For household door hinges, drawer tracks, squeaky chairs, etc. I recommend a silicone lubricant. WD-40 makes a silicone lube that's widely available, note that this is not the regular WD-40, which is different stuff.

I've tried to not be a complainer, but the constantly flashing "Police can see through your walls" and 50 cent gifs have made Jeff's last few streams completely unwatchable for me.

@tgjessie: It has atmosphere. That doesn't mean it's breathable by humans or whatever the player characters are.

Pretty much no chance they're going to read these comments, but another tip: they originally built the tractors with the intent of bringing research items back. Research items can not be carried on the medium storage objects they put on their trailers. They require a tier 2 slot.

PS the tall "storage" is indeed pretty much meant for lights.

I so want to get back into space sims, but I need a Goldilocks flight stick that does not exist.

I don't have the room or willingness to spend on a HOTAS, but I want throttle control, so it's got to be a stick with a throttle slider built in.

I got the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro that Rorie is using...and found it to be an absolute piece of trash. The movement was so stiff and the tracking was terrible. The main thumb button is recessed, uncomfortable to press, and gets stuck. The stick is far too forward canted. Returned it.

Then I got a Thrustmaster T.16000M. The quality of motion tracking on this is absolutely fantastic (it uses magnetic instead of mechanical position tracking), but the "head" area of this stick is terrible. The stick is ambidextrous (the thumb and palm rest can swap sides) and like all ambidextrous input devices, is seriously compromised as a result. I have shorter fingers and I can't hit the higher thumb buttons or hat switch without moving my hand up the stick, off the rest. The buttons are horrendously wobbly/sloppy and it's easy to "false press" them without registering. I still have this stick, but I basically can't use the hat or 2 thumb buttons. I wish they made a version of this stick with better ergonomics.

And those are pretty much the only two options currently on the market in my price/casual interest range. There's also the cheaper Thrusmater T.Flight series, which are HOTAS, but small enough to be considered; however they have old school mechanical tracking and I don't think I could go back to that after the T.16000M even with it's faults.

Music during emails is a distraction and annoyance. There were several complaints on the last podcast and no one commented in defense of it. I don't understand the purpose it serves. Conversations don't need a backing track. Emails aren't like when Ryan did the old Nintendo eShop readings, which music suited because it was one person doing a bit and not multiple people having a conversation.
