I haven't followed Borderlands 3 news because I didn't care for BL2 at all - I can't believe they still have the golden keys and Shift codes.

They were one of the main problems with BL2. The golden key guns were always way better than anything you got in drops and completely ruin any sense of progression or satisfaction from the drops. When you've subverted a player's desire to care about loot drops in a loot game, ya done fucked up.

This definitely falls under the category taking it too seriously, I'm aware, but "I'll pay Dan bananas to get a spin of the wheel" is some major bullshit! Dan is a player, not the shop. That's completely unfair to other players...is what I would say if getting bananas by playing the game actually mattered and the show hadn't already devolved into being 95% about random chance wheel spins.

Since the show is already so dominated by wheel spins anyway, they might as well just institute a "Pay 5 bananas to the bank to spin the wheel whenever you want on your turn" rule. Since the wheel can only add bananas to the overall economy (unless you get the slim "eat all bananas or give them away" chance and I'm hoping no one, not even Dan, is going to eat these nasty, sweaty palm handled Runts at this point), then they can just end the series that much quicker.

I was pretty interested in Astral Chain, but I do have fairly low tolerance for some stereotypical elements of Japanese gameplay design. Hearing Austin's criticism of it definitely has me further on the "skip it" side of the fence.

I am most curious to hear Vinny's take on it after he's played a bit, because out of all the GB crew (past and present) his gaming tastes are the closest to mine.

In regards to “when did 3 player co-op/squads become a thing”, I’m surprised no one in the group thought of Destiny.

Might be because I was a relatively young at the time, but I remember NFS: High Stakes actually being pretty good. It was the sequel to Hot Pursuit which was their first attempt to do the police chase stuff. Given the opportunity to evolve that concept, it ended up being a better game;at least on PC. Apparently the PC and PS1 versions were pretty different.

Some Gamespot reviewer called Jeff Gerstmann gave the PS1 version an 8.7/10. So at the very least it's a conclusively better game than Majora's Mask.

I've been waiting for Abby's reaction to the Oven Zombie the entire game and ...nothing. I don't know if I'm more amazed or disappointed.

Well, she was quite distracted by being in the middle of an off topic conversation. Hard to get jump scared by something you are barely paying attention to. I appreciated Vinny trying to keep some focus on the game last week, but then people complained about that :\

I'll be looking forward to Abby playing Deadspace in a more private format. RE4 is basically now just background visuals to their unrelated movie and TV show discussions. It does get pretty repetitive though, so I guess that's to be expected.

I wish there was a PC port of this so bad. I played it on PS3, but that version had performance problems and tearing throughout.

@knoxt: I'm sure that was a response to the last episode being entirely focused on off topic conversation, much of it driven by Dan, and that being the source of complaints. Some attention being paid to the game is good. OT is fine, that's what Giant Bomb is about...but all things are better in moderation. I prefer the Dan faucet having a Vinny valve on it.

As a person with a Switch that is currently collecting dust, I'd say that thing should have shipped with permanently attached controls and a separate gamepad in the first place.

The joycons are ergonomically horrific. They could have made a better handheld and better console had they ditched the needless "requirement" to use the same controllers for both. Probably could have put it out at the same price point too without the need to put batteries and wireless transponders into two tiny controllers (and ditched the almost entirely unused IR sensor).
