Having recently got an Xbox One I've been trying the Giant Bomb video player app, and the buffering is pretty much nonexistent there (On the same network as my PC) - and I can actually stream videos there in HD as opposed to low quality with buffering on PC. So that essentially confirms it's a video player issue and not anything to do with the network/CDN (And again, I don't believe it's a browser issue as it does the same in incognito with all extensions disabled). Still can't really play premium videos on my PC but if any of you having issues have an Xbox One I'd definitely recommend trying out the app.

I've signed up for premium recently and this is all of seen. I've spent over an hour just trying to get back to my position in the video and it keeps freezing like this then going back to the start. Really regretting going premium now.

With the new player the videos stops randomly, the play-button pops up like it does when I've finished a video (look at the run-time in the image). I can then start the video again, but at the beginning, it doesn't remember playback position. This happens many times each video. Happens on both HTML5 and Progressive on the newest chrome (57.0.2987.133 (64-bit). It started today or maybe yesterday.

This is still happening and it's terrible.

Still happening, still fucking terrible.

Still happening here as well. I've come to the conclusion that at this point that's just how the new player is going to be.

Here are the errors from the console log I got from the latest Beast in the East video earlier today. The two hard errors seem to correspond with the times the video started to buffer and then skipped back to the beginning of the video:

I know you've already got our premium money but it'd sure be nice to get a response on this at some point. Can't really watch any premium videos at all now because it's buffering every few seconds. If it helps any I'd be connected to whatever CDN you've got hosted in the Chicago area, so maybe whatever service Giant Bomb is using there is being subpar. But this is getting pretty ridiculous at this point, been going on since shortly after the new video player got released.

Been having the same problem, where the non YouTube video player refuses to use the bandwidth I've got. I'm able to stream HD video from Twitch/YouTube/Amazon/Netflix without any problems, but the GB player has been having a lot of bandwidth usage issues.

This happened again in todays UPF. This time I tried running in an incognito chrome window with no ads running. Here's what the console looked like after the play button showed up:

Any update on the play button showing up while watching a video and needing to restart to fix it? It's happening very consistently on the latest version of Chrome.

Watching videos on Safari recently seems to really make my MacBook chug. Not entirely sure why, but when watching the most recent Unprofessional Fridays archive video (HTML5, HD quality), it was really bad. Checked out Activity Monitor and it looks like the tab was using 1.43GB of memory (see below)? This is the only tab/window I had open in Safari (v10.1).

Using Progressive video in HD seems to be slightly better, using about 680MB (which still seems pretty high to me?).

Only extensions I have installed are 1Password and uBlock Origin (which is disabled on the giantbomb.com domain).

I had my browser tab crash during the last UPF because of high memory usage.

Also have another bug that's been happening quite a lot, and it's fairly easy to reproduce. Start a video (Can be live or archived), and keep switching around to various parts of the video until the big play button in the middle of the video randomly shows up. Clicking play will reset your progress back to zero and start the video from the beginning, not where you clicked in the progress bar.

Didn't have any of these issues with the old player.

Obviously can't tell from an image, but the video is playing right now behind the overlay and can't be removed without refreshing the page:

It seems to just randomly show up while watching a video (Both live and pre-recorded videos). This happens very often on the latest version of chrome ever since the new video player was released. Is there any fix being worked on for this? For this instance, here's what the console looked like:

All ad/script blocking addons are disabled for the giantbomb and gamespot domains, so it's definitely not a chrome add-on issue.

Was hoping the newest video player update would fix the play button overlay from randomly appearing while a video is playing, but I just had it happen again watching todays UPF.

Along with that, still having a ton of issues with constant buffering, and videos restarting completely when trying to step through to specific points. Didn't have any of these issues with the old video player.
