training for my first MMA cage fight (day 10)

so this isnt actually the 10th day but its the 10th day of hard practice ive had.

i went in at 10 am. we lifted weights for an hour. ive never lifted weights before. we did 45 pounds only. 8 reps and 8 activities. and we did this set 6 times. so basically i did 384 different reps. (8 reps x 8 activities) x 6 times total. it felt good i have a burning in my muscles still.

then we worked our defense. just letting the guy sit on me hitting me while i try to block. then the same thing standing up.

then we workd takedowns and takedown defense off the wall.

then did light grappling.

i finished at 1pm. so 3 good hours.

i went in to do some sparring. The only guys there were much bigger than me.

im 125 pounds. next is 155 pounds. then 175 pounds then 185 pounds.

i sparred a little then gave up. i couldnt do anything with someone so much bigger just rushing me and eating up my punches.

then my instructor got pissed off and sparred me. he threw me around. told me to "fucking fight" i told him there wasnt much i could do when a guy thats been training longer than me and is 30 pounds bigger than me is fighting me.

he threw his gear and told me i was being a bitch.

i walked out.

training for my first MMA cage fight (day 8)

today i saw that i have ringworm ( look it up its not a big deal ) but for the week i cant do any grappling... great...

so i watched jiu jitsu class and then did the mma workout. it was tough but not to bad.

then we learned some kicking combos. it was cool. then we sparred but lightly.

we did a few practice fights but tried to be smooth and use technique and not just beat the shit out of each other.

i learned that i really like the front kick.

didnt do much today. did some grappling. it was fun. Got really frustrated when one of my partners was going full out and i was trying to practice shit and he wouldnt let me try it really. But i guess i need someone to go really hard. Just sucks because ive been training all week. im exhausted and he hasnt been in all week. then he just goes all out on me and records it. very annoying.....

anyways. im getting more nervous each day. i dont feel like im progressing very fast.

today was easy.

i did my hour and a half of jiu jitsu. Then i sat back and watched my teammates that are fighting on the same card as me spar a bunch of guys that came in from another school to help us out.

they were way to far out of my weight class for me to fight so i watched and took some notes. It was awesome.

training for my first MMA cage fight (day 4)

i started training at 6pm and ended at 10pm last night. It was rough. I did jiu-jitsu from 6-7:30, a hard workout 7:30-8, boxing from 8-9, and then ground striking from 9-10.

jiu jitsu was the same old stuff. just practicing.

the workout was ridiculous. my legs could barely hold me up after.

boxing was fun but i have a lot to learn. I took a bunch of good shots but i think im improving.

the ground striking was good. thats where i like to fight. But during my last right i got hit good in the face. busted my bottom lip and nose open pretty good.

i didnt notice until the blood was dripping onto my partner. My lips stings this morning and my nose has a cut on it but neither really hurt right now.

training for my first MMA cage fight (day 3)

So last night was my 3rd night of hard training for my fight. (see my other blogs if you dont know about it)

i got put in the middle of the room and everyone took 1 minute turns fighting me. It was tiring but i did ok.

then we switched to just body shots and takedowns. HARD body shots. that shit hurt. I did what i consider very bad. Everyone else there says i did fine but i felt like i did horrible. I didnt even want to keep going. I guess i was having an off night or something.

Of course i did my jiu jitsu class as well.

Pretty simple day. Was tiring but simple.

Training for my first MMA cage fight. (Day 2)

So last night was day 2 of my hard training. I went in at 6pm and got home at 10pm. I was to tired to update so im doing it now.

i found out the guy im fighting is a major weight lifter. He does strong man competitions and shit. Im not sure how to feel about that.

I did about an hour of Jiu-JItsu practice wearing my MMA gloves to get used to them. It makes things very different. I did ok. Went with the bigger guys.

Then i did a 30 minute MMA cardio blast. Was very tiring but it wasnt hard. My trainer say it will get more difficult each day.

And i finished with hitting some focus mits and trying to work on my jab-straight right combination.

Wasnt to tough of a day but was very different from what ive been doing with just normal jiu jitsu training.

so i have my first MMA cage fight on February 25th

I will be fighting in my first MMA cage fight in 54 days.

I have trained JIu-Jitsu for 2 1/2 years now and am decent at it. I have also done some stand up for the last 6 months. Boxing mainly.

I posted some of my JIu-Jitsu competition videos on here before.

I did my first day of hard training to get ready for this fight. I got my ass kicked a lot but it will be worth it.

Im nervous as hell by the way.

I will try to update my blog every day or so with my progress on my training.

day 1: i got my first slam from a single leg takedown today. Then got my ass kicked for about the next hour. My back is hurting and im walking like a hunchback.

I will ice it and get some rest tonight.
