@namerson23: Nope, someone saying they found Mike annoying/try-hard is just an explanation of why someone chose not to listen to the full episode. There’s literally nothing close minded or dismissive about it.

@judgementkazzy: I guess it’s another difference of opinion/perspective. I dont find that many comments to be overly/needlessly hostile. Most people just saying “couldnt get through the podcast because I didnt enjoy the guests” No one’s making threats or name calling or demanding someone be fired. The most hostile things I’ve read are just “all the shout outs are annoying”. Seems like a perfectly just opinion to have about the episode.

@indigozeal: Well believing click-bait negative stories (ie Kotaku) can have that affect on people.

You're making big presumptions there - I don't read Kotaku. My impressions come from a variety of sources, such as in-passing comments on competitor behavior posted here, and (nearly) everything I hear about the scene, no matter the source, paints a headache-inducing picture - with the bad stuff often mentioned in an offhand, blase tone, as if it's almost expected at this point. (The story about the person Cammy mentioned sounds cool, but it seems a definite exception.) The behavior of Sonicfox alone, who is probably the foremost and most-celebrated face of the professional fighting-game scene, takes up an entire burning landfill - and it takes considerable doing to distinguish yourself as a wart on humanity in an industry that includes Randy Pitchford and Konami executives.

@fdhabhar: Implying that a guest is trying too hard and is being a poser because of the way they talk is pretty damn dismissive of that person. Also really no need to throw those assumptions out there in the first place when we are talking about someone having fun on a podcast.

@farleyslundgren: @farleyslundgren: There’s no implying anything. People are simply explaining why they didnt enjoy the podcast. Just because someone articulates why they were dissatisfied with something doesnt make them dismissive, hostile, or mean spirited. Hurling insults at those who have voiced opposite opinions about not enjoying the guests however, is actively toxic and hostile.

@effache: wish I saw your comment before they spent like 15 minutes just telling you exactly how the game pans out. I skipped ahead before hearing everything, but they just were like "so yeah, in new game plus you unlock this"... thanks! Thanksthanks.

@fdhabhar: People are calling a guest a tryhard and a poser. You don’t think that's being dismissive? There is a better way, and more importantly a nicer way to convey that you don't jive with a certain personality than to resort to those kinds of comments about a person you don't even know. You seem to be actively disregarding this simple point for some reason.

I worked at McDonald's for 5 years, and we cleaned it every Tuesday night after like 10pm.... With out fail the same person would come through every time and request ice cream... It was awful... Also, not sure what stores were getting away with not cleaning the machine, but lucky them? Cleaning that machine was such a tedious process.

Also loved this episode! Thought it was super fun and loved Kallie and Michael to bring some fresh energy!

@farleyslundgren: Yeah im actively disagreeing because saying “I didn’t enjoy the podcast because I found the shoutouts annoying” is in no way shape or form dismissive. It is simply a statement of opinion. One you are welcome to disagree with. Saying the shoutouts are annoying is in no way an attempt to invalidate or “dismiss” anything make has to say. If you would like to explain how thats “dismissive” rather than just repeating that point over and over, I’m all ears.

@fdhabhar: Your whole argument seems to boil down to ”calling someone a tryhard is not dismissive because it's an opinion” so I have no idea how to engage with that. Anyway, we disagree. I think it’s dickish behavior and it's unnecessary, that's all.

Kallie at one point lamented there not being a Master-tier magic class for male characters in Fire Emblem. I just half an hour ago reached the point in the game where I can view the Master classes, and decided to check, because it sounds absurd that they would leave out such a thing.

Sure enough, there is straight up a mounted class that excels in Black magic, and a mounted class that excels in White magic. Didn't she say she's halfway through her second playthrough?

Maybe she was looking for one that uses both, or something, but if the earlier classes are any indication, most if not all of the magic classes can use both Black and White. They're just slightly better at one.

@fdhabhar: what’s with all the GB cheerleaders? You mean why are we supporting the site most of us love and watch, and pay an annual fee for because it’s more fun than pretty much anything out there? And on the odd occasion it airs something not quite to our liking we shrug and move on instead of being negative online? I dunno.

@ptys: You keep calling me up to tell me you're over calling me up? Does the next move involve some variant of "well, if youdon't know why I'm mad, then I'm not certainly going to tell you!!!"?

(It's about your fanfic of me reading Kotaku turning out to be noncanon, isn't it?)

I really enjoyed the episode, but can we tone down the weeb vocabs like Americanizing Japanese terms and all those Anime terms which sounds cringy when said out loud.

I honestly didn't know there were people out there who said ''Yikes'' IRL.

Just grow up (Not pointing any fingers since the two guests were cool otherwise)

I remember the time I thought it'd be awesome to eat a dozen donuts in one sitting. I was in college (so, peak shitty eating years), and had never had the chance to have a dozen donuts all to myself. It was always shared among family before then. Bought a dozen from Dunkin' Donuts with my friends (who also got their own), and went back to their apartment to chow down. I think I ate about six and a half before almost throwing up. I was surprised that I couldn't do it. It's too much. I could almost see eating a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts if they were hot off the line, because those things just melt in your mouth. But since he said he ate them after a flight... that's insane.

If you think that everyone who disagrees with you is a troll or and old man, think that the best way to respond to people who disagree with you is insults or believe that only one side can be ass-wholes, you'll probably like this podcast.

If the person above sounds like someone you wouldn't like, you probably also won't like this podcast.

@mouryous: I'm gonna wing it-counter that it's not that people are upset with anyone being young (what?) or the audacity to (what?) act young. It's intentional language use that honestly does come off as representing the individual making the choice to dumb down or reduce themselves to a limited use of wording that instead of illuminating a point is junk hyperbole. The point gets across, but what's the persepective? High energy and slang undercuts Michael's obvious intellect, I wish he would wise up to this. Slang is part of my life's word use too, but I know when I'm talking about...anything...that I actually want people to think about, or illustrate with words, using one adjective over and over doesn't achieve that, and ultimately makes a n y o n e, sound dumber than they probably are. In Michaels case especially, it feels forced, because there are points when he drops the 'act' (I guess) and speaks intelligently, and then dives back into blah. It has nothing to do with being 'young'.

@dya: i agree... the dude with his “homegirls” was like nails on a chalkboard. Trying to too hard to be hip hop or something. Then they jumped right on politics with the El Paso issue. I think we can all agree that that’s a tragedy and video games aren’t the primary cause, but they lay it on thick with the SJW garbage. I unsubbed from the Beastcast because of Austin, and as much as I like Ben and Jason, occasionally they inject they’re own biased junk in there. I listen to them and play games to escape, i get enough of that when i watch the news or read articles.

Pizza goes right on the top rack. I put a pizza pan on the rack underneath to catch anything that might fall. Then, you take them both out at the same time while placing the pizza on the pan.

Whoa, pump your brakes.... never said I hate Jason and Ben. In fact, even said I LIKE them. I absolutely don’t like Austin, and I’m glad he’s gone. Don’t like their infusion of politics occasionally into the podcast. They’re welcome to have their own opinion on their own time away from work. My job is the exact same way. Work is for work unless your work is politics don’t bring it in, especially if your work is contingent on keeping a base happy with your performance and your monetization is largely based on personalities and whether their liked. Games are for escaping and their in the business of covering games. There is a way to cover these without injecting their own agenda. Brad, Vinny, Jeff and Ryan did an excellent job of that for years. It’s only some of the new additions that seem to throw that off occasionally. You have no clue if I’m a Trump supporter, Democrat, Republican, Green Party or what. Anyone of the aforementioned could easily say, “hey I don’t want politics in my game coverage, I just want them talk about games and the industry without an agenda”. You’re being overly hostile and presumptive. Chill

Their work does involve discussing political and social issues relating to the games industry. That is part of their job. That is what the site and community has evolved and expanded to include more. You’re welcome to not like it but I don’t think it’s correct to claim that it’s not part of their job. The site is highly personality focused so generally people want to know what they think about everything and that will include everything from unionization issues, prominent gaming streamers dropping the n word to topics about video game violence relating to shootings.

Can we please for the love of God not have anymore GiantBomb political podcasts... I do not want to hear commentary on things going on from the crew. I listen to this podcast to get away from the awful things in the world...

I understand that everyone on the crew thinks they're doing a service by mentioning shitty things, but the fact of the matter is that we tune into this podcast for video games and they're feeding the fire. Things are good in the world for the most part and those of us that choose to pay attention to the wider issues will donso outside of our video game podcasts...

As someone that's real excited about XIV, I'm happy there has been someone on the show also real excited about XIV. We need this kind of hype building to get more of the GB crew over the slog that is, well, everything before Shadowbringers.
