@caboosemsg: I'm not sure if there's an official statement on it, I do remember them saying they were pleased with how it worked out in the Forsaken, but yeah there was a new one this week. It's the necklace missions (blanking on the name), this weeks being the melee powerful enemies in nightmare hunts. You do that and deliver it to Eris who then has a little in game scene with one of her fallen fireteam members. Seems like there will be one of these for each of her dead teammates.

That final week 1 cutscene with Eris and Ikora did imply this was just the start of the work towards the pyramid so who knows when the actual payoff will be but I assume it all results with a raid on the ship. My guess would be the final season of the year will be the conclusion to the pyramid storyline.

You would still have to buy Forsaken, the raved about expansion. You do get the two lackluster expansions for free though!

Forsaken is $25 bucks and I'm on the fence about buying it. I started a new character because I had no idea what I was doing with my last main, so if I get through all the story stuff and I still want more, I can always buy in.

Yah that "joke" was a little rough to put it lightly. Not sure why Ben thought it was a good idea to make light of someone passing away especially in that way... You gotta let the humor come naturally and most importantly, at appropriate times.

I don’t care how much you cover up -30 can kill you anyways. It’s obvious none of these guys have experienced -30. 120 you’ll be fine as long as you drink water, stay in the shade and don’t get too active. It will suck, but you’ll be fine. -30 is the temperature where things just stop working, most importantly the blood in your veins.

I thought Randy was a surefire win for the Hottest mess category but between that lawsuit getting settled and this Blizzard stuff, I really don't know anymore. Also, I was thinking about trying the new Call of Duty since it looked neat and I haven't played one since CoD4 but now I think I'll... battlepass. I always feel like I have too many games I want to play around the holidays anyway. Axing one is no big loss.

So, the worst part about -30 is that there is no running water. That means no sewer system. That means waste has to be moved by you. On the other hand, I was in Dubai last summer with a heat index of 133 degrees F. It wasn't that bad outside. Just need water and some shade from time to time.

Apparently I have a different bar for humour, because I was basically fine with Ben’s Kirby joke. A little dark, he got a little overly graphic with it, but the basic bit of “King Dedede finally got him” was fine.

I wonder what the Beastcast's take on the Blizzard stuff will be, but that definitely seems like it's a frontrunner for hottest mess! Followed distantly by Randy Pitchford (just every piece of news involving him this year). (also, forgot about Activision-Blizzard's huge layoffs this year until I just read a PC Gamer article. What a great year for Blizzard!)

The disconnect between reviews of the last two ghost recon games has always seemed weird to me. Wildlands looked bad, but it always seemed pretty popular! I haven't watched any of Breakpoint, but the discussion on the bombcast didn't make it sound good (and discussion from other places during the beta made it sounds broken). Whatever, as long as people are having fun with it fine!

Ben has been aggressively making some really bad and tasteless jokes lately...the Kirby one was the bottom of the barrel. Maybe don't blurt everything that first comes to mind that you think is funny. I feel like there's been an influx of him attempting to make a joke every 10 seconds and it's really been bringing the Bombcast down...

@bisonhero: If the joke was just simply "King Dedede finally got him" as an off-hand comment, I wouldn't mind it, but when literally the first thing spoken after Brad brought up the death was that followed by "....CRUSHED HIS HEAD WITH A HAMMER" is a bit much...

Coming off the Beastcast I must say that this podcast has become absolutely one-sided. No one opposes the views of nobody and most of the time the crew doesn't even have the guts to express opinions on the more controversial subjects in gaming. I miss the times when Jeff and Dan would take stances and really debate topics...

DOOM64 is in no way shape or form ”fine”. It is a damn atrocity and it's not canon and it doesn't actually exist.

That was absolutely disgusting, Ben. I'm disappointed that no one called him out during the show. I hope he was told how disgusting that joke was off air.

You can make jokes, even about someone's death but saying that someone "got their head smashed by a hammer" is just incredibly strange.

Seeing the Spider-man demo is impressive but it is still a current gen game on next gen hardware. real test will be seeing how those new fancy games will load on that ssd.

This is insane. I can't wait to see how this progresses at BlizzCon here in a few weeks.

Gotta echo a lot of what has already been said here in that the joke Ben made was very unnecessary and not funny.

I also expected them to take a more harsh stance on Blizzard and the whole China situation and was kinda disappointed when they didn't really condemn what they did.

Interesting to make the Doom comparison when talking about Destiny's finishers. They feel, to me, exactly like what was introduced in the later Halo games, though they do tie in resource gain like the glory kills.

Edit: Why the continued dunking on Doom and New Colossus? I can't speak to Young Blood, but both Doom 2016 and New Colossus run perfectly fine and were patched for visual clarity after release. I played both of those games maxed out on PC, but the Switch ports are perfectly fine to play, as well as technically astonishing.

Haven't listened to all of this yet, and it sounds like it becomes a mess... but I agree with Ben about how the jump from PS3/360 to PS4/Xbox One was probably one of the smallest gaps in history. I think that in retrospect, or historically, this generation will be remembered as one of the least impactful ones ever in terms of progress. PS2/Xbox to PS3/360 didn't have a huge graphical leap or anything (at least at first), but as they said, online services becoming integrated and then becoming the norm was a huge leap. But PS4/Xbox One doesn't have anything on the level of that. Aside from the standout games (which there are definitely a number of), I foresee this generation becoming mostly forgotten/overlooked in the future. I guess its legacy will be introducing half-step consoles. Which is not a good legacy.

Kirby joke from Ben sucked. Like you don't actually have to crack a joke in every segment dude. What an awkward moment.

@curryspiced: What are your thoughts vis-a-vis Vinny using a derogatory word aimed precisely at women repeatedly? Like always, the favorites get a free pass. Not that I'm saying it was tasteful what Ben said, just some people fuck up in the moment and get forgiven or completely glazed over and others fuck up and it's pitchforks (see Patrick). I recommend you PM and/or tweet him if you feel strongly about it, and think he needs to deliver an apology/statement that much and need to effect change.

Full disclosure: Ben's one of my faves overall and I think he gets way too much flak.

(You never see this devolution of off topic comments on the fucking Beastcast. Honestly it's excessively nit-picky.)
