Quick Look: Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

Loved DMC 5, and this might get me to play it yet again.

Kind of curious about how much ray tracing you actually get to see considering that 2/3 of the game takes place in those dreadfully boring "demon" locations.

Now I'm motivated.

Load times for DMC5 were terrible on last gen. I sold my PS4 copy even though Vergil is coming as DLC because I’d rather wait and play it on PS5.

Played the original DMC 5, and I can say those load times on the PS5 version is legit. Way faster than the PC version, which is how I played the original. And the ray tracing is nice. PS5 is looking better and better with each video.

Brad had the chance to play DMC3 with Vinny sitting beside him, but decided to play DMC1 instead, even though he had already played it before. And then Vinny went back home to New York. I think it’s the biggest missed opportunity in GB history.

DMC V is probably one of my favorite games of the last gen. Anything new for that game is enough to excite me.

It would have been nice to hear about the adaptive triggers on this port since Capcom say that's a feature. I guess the fact that Jeff didn't bring it up tells us all we need to know.

I'm probably gonna have to get a PS5 sooner rather than later if I can't play Vergil on my PS4 copy, aren't I?

Best action game of 2019 gets...bester?

DMC5 was my 2019 GOTY and I never really think too much about stuff like that, I just have fun listening to the GOTY podcasts. I'm sad SE isn't on PC, but I guess I can hold out hope that it might come a few months later.

The adaptive triggers are specifically for Nero's Exceed system and I would imagine Jeff never even touched anyone besides Vergil. All the outlets that have talked about it though hate it because it messes with the Exceed timing.

The way they have handled the DMC series has been so weird. DmC didn't get the definitive edition on PC either, and with how well DMC5 did, I can't understand why they don't port it to PC or at least have an upgrade path. The level design in DMC5 was extremely lackluster, and it seems like Vergil doesn't have any unique content, it's only existing campaign levels, unless I'm misunderstanding that? I wish for once that they had the budget to go whole-hog on a game in this series and bring together all of the disparate elements that have been scattered out across each game.

Bummed that neither Brad nor Jeff seemed to have played much of the original DMC5. Barring some pretty boring level design, it's incredible.

Not being able to show cutscenes seems extremely strange. I wonder why they made that decision.

Yeah I'm going to not bother with the video. I don't need to listen to Jeff and Brad show off their lack of interest & knowledge in one of my favourite franchises for however many times a conversation about DMC has been struck up now over the past 12 years.

I liked DMC from Ninja Theory a lot, but couldn't get into this one.

I'm actually surprised Jeff didn't get into it more. I couldn't get into DMC5 because the combat system just didn't gel with me at all no matter how much effort I put into learning it - but I always had this theory that people who enjoyed traditional fighting games would be better at it since it does incorporate a lot of the same concepts of combos, cancels and even footsies to a certain degree.

You can tell Jeff barely played this because he forgot to dodge and varying his attack moves affects his stylish rank like the old games. He also didn't finish DMC5 because he would have known that V (goth guy) is Vergil's human half . I get why story related cutscenes with Vergil would not be shown here but you end up repeating the same levels with different characters in the original game. The question that other people have been asking is how ray tracing works with organic shapes because you spend the second half of the game in a hell looking environment. I really like the Ninja Theory DmC. Its too bad that the internet hated it and it will not get a sequel.
