Ahhh Shenmue continues to break poor Vinnie and Alex.

This game feels like the Truman show. I mean all open world games are, but Shenmue is especially so.

Maybe Fort Riley ? I live in Hays, and it is not called Fort Hays but the university anymore

Again, the Help button shows a list of controls for any given activity. It would display what the Forklift controls were. Vinny momentarily presses the Help button while next to Ine San, and unsurprisingly ignores its purpose.

I am so excited for the forklifts! :D

Finally, time for some forklift action.

i think the the script for that one guard actually read "hey, im afraid you are disrupting the work"

and they just got it wrong on translation phase.

i do hope they pass the next game translation to random english actors they can find in japan too.

Yeah, I still don't get the argument against fast travel. It's an option in the game, why not use it?

considering the entire warehouse district is obsessed with health and safety, why does the manager have a pot of boiling water on a pillar in the middle of his room?

Their relationship with Nozomi is a fucking trainwreck. For those who haven't played the game, you can actually establish a relationship with her it's just that he GB crew have basically ignored that aspect.

@baggykins: It's incredibly jarring if you haven't been maintaining the relationship, because the game acts as if you have at several points, creating these "Wait, what?" moments.

Except a literal minute later when Dan tells Vinny to hit the start button to view the forklift controls...

I am constantly amazed at how stilted the dialogue is in this game.

@mrcraggle: How are you even supposed to? She just brushes them off when they talk to her, and she has never even implied any questline or side activity you could do.

I do however wonder how much they miss by waiting to do sidequests like the grandma in ep1, or the cat. When they are clearly time sensitive.

@j-mack: Translation and voice acting were both incredibly rushed.

@chicken008: @tobbrobb: The Nozomi stuff is almost entirely over the phone.

"I think 7:30 is when we can sleep." Man, they're always so eager to rush home and go to sleep, you'd think they'd know by now what time you can actually sleep.

It sure was nice of the Mad Angels to lend Ryo a bike for that game of chicken. Also, didn't he technically lose since he was the one that stopped first?

@tobbrobb: @chicken008: You call her on the phone. If you phone every day you can get some extra scenes and stuff. The scene below gives a little more context to what Nozomi was even talking about as what we saw made very little sense (starting at 30:08).

@poperamone: Maybe ignore was the wrong word to use there. The game doesn't really tell the player much and you have to often find it yourself. I played this when I was 13/14 years old and I had no issues with finding this stuff but 3 men all in their 30s is somehow an issue. 19 episodes in Vinny just discovered you can press start at any time to get tips on controls while complaining that this whole time that the game doesn't tell you shit.

@mrcraggle: thats the key difference. At 13-14 kids has have all the time in the world to fuck around in a game and try everything to see if it does anything. These dudes are trying to make an entertaining video series while also working actual jobs and having families and relationships at the same time. Cant really blame them for not thinking "maybe i should call that girl whose conversation lead to nothing on this old rotary telephone"
