Is this the third bat V knife debate?

Swinging for the head is a horrible idea since A) it's easily to duck and B) if you swing really hard you'll be completely off balance if you miss and exposed. Take their knees out and go to work.

Looks like there is one 4TB laptop (2.5 inch) hard drive on the market, the Seagate ST4000LM016 which is $175 on Amazon.

The largest 2.5 inch drive from Western Digital/HGST or Hitachi is 2TB.

Or you could get a 4TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD for the low low price of $1399.99.

Was kind of amazed by something very minor that bugged me and was immediately fixed (covertly) by Drew:

0:57 - Frame slightly off to the left

1:06 - Focus in on the people talking so that Drew can fix the problem

1:19 - Problem solved

Makes you wonder about how often little things like that are happening throughout a single podcast or feature.

They seemed pretty upset about it so I figured I'd correct them that all the sony wireless headsets do work with psvr. It's even right in the faq Brad cited here:

Q: Can I use my PULSE wireless headset or other wireless headsets with PS VR?

Yes, but you should connect the wireless headset using a standard 3.5mm wired cable. A wireless audio connection will not work with PS VR.

The Sony headsets all come with the cable to wire it anyway so it seems like a complete non-issue. Not Brad's fault but that's why you don't read Polygon.

In a world where you want to have as few wires as possible draped around you--especially loose headphone wires that you might snag a Move controller on--the notion that you can wire up your wireless headphones is of zero use. I have other, far better headphones I'd use, given that I have to use wired headphones.

Thank you Giantbomb for making video verisions of the podcasts, i enjoy being able to listen to the bombcast on the go or in the comfort of my own home. Being able to see the expressions and movements of ya'll during heated momemnts makes video so worth it. I hope the GOTY podcasts this year are in video too, i can not for that discussion!

Thank you, from a loving Giantbomb enthusisast.

Giant Bomb Crew: Look up Massad Ayoob. He's an author, self-defense instructor, firearms instructor, instructor of law enforcement.

He's covered civilian self-defense laws EXTENSIVELY. I highly suggest anything he's said or written.

Well it's been known for a while that the headphones need to be plugged in. Seems like the port they plug into is pretty high up near the shoulders but I can't say if they actually get in the way of the arms. I guess you'd know better since you've used it. The correction was more because Polygon's article about this straight up says those wireless Sony headsets wont work at all with ps vr and I thought you guys were repeating the same thing. That misinformation has been spreading to a bunch of sites because of that article.

Sucks they have to be wired but at least people can still use those headsets they bought specifically for the ps4.

re: the Paladins/Overwatch discussion -- very glad that Brad mentioned the fact that OW highly derivative. It boggles my mind that Paladins would generate ire from players when Overwatch is one of the most shameless (albeit nicely gilded) clones to come out from a major company in recent years. Blizzard seems to have built a kind of immunity generated by a zealous fanbase and the odd fact that they're obscenely good at presentation and optimizing hooks in preexisting paradigms. Overwatch is a strange animal in that it's like a Chinese clone game (Hello, Box Maker!) that actually manages to surpass its derivation in presentation without meaningfully extending beyond it mechanically. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it's really aggravating to hear it spoken of as if it were the free-standing paradigm by which to measure all further TF clones.

Dan's talk of killing a HUMAN PERSON because they broke into his house was incredibly disturbing and verges on sociopathy. I know it's largely because of our American love affair with guns and violence, but christ Dan, you should never want to be able to kill a person.

I get that the general attitude of the country is way too trigger happy, but it's going too far in the other direction to say someone shouldn't do anything.

I don't own a gun, and don't think I will ever feel the need to, but I would certainly grab a bat or something in this situation.

I really like Dan in a lot of ways, but sometimes he has no self awareness. He seems to not be able to tell the difference between "I'm making my coworkers angry and exasperated in a fun inside joke way (a la Mario Party Party)" and "I'm legitimately upsetting the people around me (a la the end of this podcast)". To be a person who is constantly tweeting and spends his life/career on the internet, but to not know anything about castle doctrine, or to not understand that these sorts of things are hotly contested debates that make people uncomfortable, well it honestly boggles my mind. While the giant bomb crew, especially Jeff, does a remarkable job towing the line on certain issues and working to not offend anyone, it is clear that giantbomb is something of a liberally minded establishment. The fact that their two offices are located in San Francisco and NYC definitely contribute to this, but is not my only reason for making this assumption. For Dan to be so naive about the complexities towards killing someone for trespassing, well it just really doesn't jive with the rest of the vibe of the show/site. From looking at the chat and such it almost seems like maybe he should make an apology or something. I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting, but come on. It's totally okay for Dan to make a mistake and say some really dumb stuff (dumb scary not dumb funny), but I think he should acknowledge that he did so.

I really enjoyed this weeks podcast. Usually switch off after an hour and catch up later on in the week but was hooked for the full 3 hours.

Dan needs to chill out as well. I enjoyed John Wick and Keanu kicks ass but Christ it wasn't that bloody good. I thought he was going to burst a bloody vessel.

@steveurkel: DOOM mp doesn't need deathmatch. The game is balanced more around team games than FFA situations. DM is fine for what it is now, but I rather play TDM, partly because of the Demon Rune which requires a team effort to take down. I'm sure Quake Champions will be a more traditional arena shooter with more focus on DM and duel. But I'm glad the DOOM mp actually tries to do new things with the arena shooter to give it a fresh experience instead of copying Quake3/UT (and with the active player number of those games, that would've been a bad idea anyway).

God Damnit. I have an irrational hatred/fear towards Howard the Duck. I don't know if it's the nude duck within minutes of the movie starting, Lea Thompson sexual tension, or Howard being a shitty creepily made costume with his cold dead eyes... but the second you guys started talking about that movie I knew this would be the picture used.

Also, Dan not knowing the laws for home intruders are different in each state...

Nothing irrational about that. Howard the Duck looks scary as shit, a human-looking duck.

I had the same impression of the Halo plot as old Dan had. My guess is that its a product of playing the game coop with people who didnt care about story and skipped stuff, having it be many years between each game and maybe the new versions are clearer.

My guess is that playing them all during a short time period would clear up a lot of things. I bet the devs did just that when they made the game.

For me I just could not remember anything going into Halo 3, didn't know who Cortana was, didn't know the story behind master chief or any of the antagonist alien races, etc. Despite the fact that I played Halo 1 and 2 a lot.

Damn, that was a fantastic episode.

Dan thinking he is a action hero is both incredibly cute and disturbing at the same time. Him thinking he enjoys the same rules as an action hero was fantastic. Not to mention that the Bombcasts reaction to it was priceless. I think that Dan seems like the most harmless and innocent human being, thats why him talking about real violence seems alien to me.

And the discussion at the end, gentlemen, is why you don't open Pandoras Toilet.

I think it goes to show how many American citizens falsely assume that if you find an intruder in your house you just have the right to go to town on them. True in some jurisdictions, but it's still a really serious situation where your actions will be investigated.

I mean, go ahead and do whatever you feel is necessary to protect yourself, and your jurisdiction may allow you to do whatever, but there are also places where if you just murder an unarmed burglar who thought no one was home and whom posed no immediate threat, there's a decent chance that wouldn't work out great for the home owner.

Someone breaking into your house is pretty fucking scary. Trust me on this one, I know it personally quite well.

It's less the murder fantasy and more of a fear. If there wasn't the risk of people breaking into your homes of running into the smoking end of a gun, the idea is that people who are privy to be criminals are more likely to run amok, laws typically have punishments for a reason. I don't like the idea that in a situation where someone literally breaks into a home of another, Dan (in this instance) is somehow seen as the bad guy who is only defending what could be a terrible situation for him. Breaking into people's homes is very illegal and could end up devastating and deeply traumatic for people who have had a home invasion, for instance.

I don't mean to go political, but the idea of someone having means to protect themselves is vital to a society and the laws around them. Lots of places the police arrival time can take more than 10 minutes, and if someone is there fucking your shit up and threatening you with a gun, sometimes some action is warranted there.

Obviously Dan can't just straight up murder someone, but if someone literally has a weapon or gun as a method to defend themselves while infiltrating someone's house, I don't understand how Dan wanting to have means to protect himself makes himself out as a bad person. I didn't take his tone or message to be that he's going to vigilante-style murder people if they're trying to steal a TV haphazardly, but the means to protect yourself outside of being like "WHERE'S THE COPS!" is an important life skill to know.

I wasn't just referring to the breaking and entering scenario but also to his euphoric reaction to and blow by blow recount of action movie violence. He made both discussions weird.

Great to have a full crew back on board the good ship Bombcast.

Though I feel I shouldn't bring up the topic again...

Do you really need a softball-sized wad of toilet paper? In the unlikely event you get poop on your hand, it's not a going to kill you.
