Anyone got a timestamp for the Zelda talk? I really want to play the game but Im really sick of hearing about it.

I can kind of see where you guys are coming from when you say you're sick of the Zelda talk, because a few days ago I was there with you... but, I just started playing it myself (I got myself a used Wii U JUST for this game), and let me tell you, it is some incredible shit. O.o

GOTY is most definitely already wrapped up, and I think you're going to be hearing a lot more from the Crew about this game, because simply put, it deserves it. For the foreseeable future, the gaming world is going to be divided between those who have played Breath of the Wild, and those who have not.

Nintendo has hit this one out of the park boys and gals.

Important observation: Chris Remo has the exact same voice as Michael Showalter.

I like BotW and I'm tired of the talk. This is like Destiny, except BotW doesn't annoy me as much as Destiny, and it was getting talked about for 10-15 every episode for a few months.

It's funny, on another podcast someone was annoyed that games get no coverage after launch, just years of reporting on hype then nothing. When you actually drill deep on a game people whine because every second of every piece of media must appeal to them (just skip). Yeah it's boring when they repeat the same discussion every week but Chris and Jake have an interesting perspective.

I wonder if a podcast would work by putting new releases and news in the first half and old recurring topics at the tail end after a skippable disclaimer.

Wow these guys highjacked the bombcast. I should check them out; critical and smart insight and very well put opinions.

So tired of all the BOTW discussions; ended up turning the live stream off midway through.

I love games getting post-launch discussion; but when its the same game every time, it gets old fast.

I 100% Full Throttle last night in about 1.5-2 hours. The lows are still the lows but the highs are even highers. I was surprised that I literally remembered every step of the way in that game.

@spacefish: I think there is a difference between drilling down and having the same ethereal discussion each weak. They all agree that the story isn't great, don't really get into it, and then it boils down to a discussion about how cool it was when they climbed a mountain and found a chest on top.

They should have a spoiler cast and then move on. It's obvious from the comments below that even fans of the game are tired of the Zelda talk, especially when there are so many other great games out right now. But hey Bombcast gonna do what Bombcast gonna do.

Love Idle Thumbs, too bad Nick couldn't make it!

I have to say, if I was listening to this podcast and did not listen to Idle Thumbs, I do not think I would view this episodes discussion as interchangeable with others they've had on the Bombcast. Jake and Chris, Jake especially, do bring a way different perspective to the game than other GB staff or the various game journos they've had on. Jake gets kind of deep into discussing specific elements of the world design from a more experienced development perspective and I think it's pretty interesting stuff. I get how people are bored with GB staff discussing the game the same way in a kind of circular way, but this episode isn't that for the most part. Plus, there's lots of other really good discussions beyond that segment.

I hope people won't skip the entire episode just because of the early Zelda talk (which I personally enjoy). Jake and Chris always brings thoughtful and articulated discussions to the table, and the Full Throttle segment was particularly great.

(Plus, Jake's wish may come true after all?)

I think Flinthook looks great, but the moment someone says "roguelite" it's not really interesting anymore. I understand that it's a very enticing format for smaller developers, but it's not a very enticing format for me, and I'll be happy when that trend dies out.

They're discussing Zelda because they keeping having more experiences in Zelda. Every week Giant Bomb talk about the games they've been playing that week, not sure what people expected.

I could listen to Chris and Jake talk about anything, forever. They have such an articulate, considered approach to topics, but are just as likely to go entirely off the rails and into madness.

Mario lore apparently outlines the greatest video game story ever told.

Considering i wasn't really a fan of Zelda before, this year's discussions have been a real treat so far.

Sure. In the same way that Portal is a better version of Halo.

I'm not nearly as hot on Breath of the Wild as it sounds like most people are, but it and The Witcher are not really similar at all beyond the fact that they're both 3rd person games about a dude with sword.

This episode is such a contrast to a normal bombcast where the guys talk about a game they have/will only ever put ten hours into and the discussion amounts to "I do or don't like it" and is extremely surface level. I am much happier to hear a deep dive into the specifics of one game, especially one that inspires this much passion in the majority of people who play it.

Also the texture of this discussion is very different given that these guys are game developers, so they bring a perspective that the other guys can't.

Whine about too much negativity when GBW runs down a list of games that didn't move them, whine about the result of GBW falling in love with a game and expressing that more than four times. Never stop whining.

Zelda is great. Keep talking about it because it is great.

I find it amusing in the lead up to the release of Zelda the crew would mock the Nintendo PR line of "if you see something, you can go there" saying they needed to do more than that because so many games have already done that and now they're gushing over that exact thing.

I don't think I would mind the Zelda talk so much if it was more substantial than I climbed a thing and found/did a thing. It's great they like it but it doesn't make for great content when there's nothing new or interesting to say about it.

dude, you have no idea. they've been at it almost as long as the hot spot(and then the bombcast) has, on and off. idle thumbs is fantastic, outside of the "dark period" when they were balls deep in producing Firewatch, and didn't have the time or energy to play games or do much, so it was pretty bad for a bit with occasional sparks of quality. but it's great again...well, until they shut down IT(for well-explained reasons), but they're still making podcasts.

That was a good episode. It's always fun when the Idle Thumbs guys come on.

@humanity: I don't recall the story being brought up (might have missed it). Developer POV is different from the usual GB perspective.

If you look at the comments of any bombcast in the last few years, any game that gets brought up more than 2 weeks in a row will get complaints from people who are pissy they are still talking about a game they don't play or like (regardless of what is said).

I came here in hopes that someone would be whining about those Harry Potter spoilers and I was disappointed.

Michael Moore is such an idiot and the story here simply proves it more. And wow does my movie taste disagree with the thumbs here. I do not like the idea of changing a book in a movie at all. Give me the book not some strange incorrect interpretation (like Dumbeldore as a dirty hippy) in a movie. How crazy liberal Hollywood is going to mess up Wrinkle in Time gives me nightmares.

obviously you have not played the real game of the year Persona 5 - you know a game with actually interesting systems and that little thing called STORY and CHARACTER that games used to be about rather than just pure mechanical systems. Bleh. I really do not understand the love for Nintendo at all. Give me playstation and Sega all the way.
