An extra long I Love Mondays! I'm really excited to see what comes of Patrick and Drew's trip to Iceland.

Offices get cleaned by pretty heavy duty carpet cleaners. Technically you could say it's a vacuum but it's like an industrial version of the house appliance model so I can see how Ryan would call it a floor cleaning machine.

Leave it to Jeff when there needs to be some wordsmithery after like 10 minutes. boom

@winsord: One of the boxes runs straight CentOS, the other one (the raid box) is actually running some custom linux-kernel based system. Which is super frustrating cause its missing basic linux utilities and doesn't have a standard package manager.

I feel like a Mid Atlantic Dumptruck should have less to do with EVE Online and more to do with some bad seafood chowder.

Hey, I'm a lot better now than I used to be. There was I time when I would run X as root because it sorted out most of those stupid configuration and permissions issues. Fun times, fun times!

@ltsquigs: I assume the Synology box is the one running some stripped down BusyBox based thing. If it has at least tar/netcat you could tar -cf - . | nc from CentOS to nc -l | tar xpf - on BusyBox then look into tar's incremental functions. From my experience it'll kick the crap out of rsync for performance since it isn't checksumming every file.

I was in Iceland last July, and let me tell you, the all-night sunset/sunrise at that time of year is unquantifiably cool. I was on a whale-watching boat (no whales, but instead a guy playing Beatles songs on acoustic guitar) that arrived back in port about midnight, and I walked back to the hostel through an empty Reykjavik lit by a frozen-in-time sunset.

Also, Reykjavik public transport can be INCREDIBLY confusing if you don't speak Icelandic. Got supremely lost.

If time permits, it's well worth seeing stuff like Þingvellir and Gulfoss on the Golden Circle.

I just take melatonin to fight jet lag, works great for me but I understand that it doesn't work for everyone equally.

@patrickklepek@drewbert@ryan: Benadryl and Tylenol PM have the same active ingredient that causes drowsiness (a first-generation anti-histamine called diphenhydramine). They also contain the same amount of diphenhydramine per pill (25mg in the most common formulations). So if you're just going for sleep, hit the benadryl alone. Word.

The PM part of Tylenol IS Benedryl.
