Quick Look: Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2

I was hoping you guys would do this one.  I dunno, demo seemed fun.

a friend of mine always end buying this dragon ball games, and we end having a blast playing it, but when he says "why don't you buy your own copy so we can play it online" i suddenly fake an epilepsy attack to change subject

That little sing-a-long with sonic boom made me wish Sonic still didn't suck :(. Also i much prefer watching this games then actually playing them, like Ryan said the controls are horrible.

The cartoon video near the end was actually an FMV game that was originally released for the Bandai Playdia in Japan. They remastered it, I'm not sure if they removed the interactive portions, and subtitled it for this game, marking the first time that this video content was officially released outside of Japan.

I tried the demo for the game, and I really liked it. It's just as ridiculous as the show, and the controls aren't that much of an issue. I do wish they would make a 2D fighter in the vein of TvC, though.

I think Ryan is right, these games need to control similar to Zone of the Enders where everything looks really crazy but the controls are simple and contextual. So for example if I'm far from you I do ranged attacks, while up close I do melee. Would not really get me to play these though.

This quick look is amazing.

Vanquish uses LB + LT at the  same time, Ryan, and you just reviewed it.

Yeah, I tried playing the demo of this and got frustrated fairly quick.

If I implied that one is equivalent to the other then I'm sorry.  But a lot of people on GB seem to be anti-anime and definitely ant-DBZ so that's one strike and the other is that I love the games. "

I still want to see what it looks like when two people who are really really good at these games play against each other.

Finally, the second Dragon Ball game.

Only DBZ games I liked were the Budokai series.

aniballz420 is the perfect Dragon Ball fan gamertag.  The only thing that would make it better would be xXx in the front and back of the tag.

I agree with Vinny that no one holds a controller in a way that lets you press LB and LT at the same time.

Looks alright, but I'm not in the mood for Dragonball right now so I'll just wait for Raging Blast 3, it'll happen for sure.

And thus Vinny's illustrious career as a Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 ranked fighter was ended. Let us remember the good times.

This series peaked with Budokai 3 and everything after that was garbage.

I love Dragon Ball, and DBZ was okay but I've never had the slightest urge to see the movies or GT or play the games.

I don't mind the controls in these games too much, but some of the tutorial prompts in this vid didn't seem very helpful at all (and when you can't skip to the next tutorial that sucks).

That intro is the reason I had to start this video three times.

First of all, LB+LT has been a PS thing for ages. Second of all, it's not that hard to move a finger real quick to go to that position and go back. You kind of do it already when you go to the bumper. 
Second of all, while contextual controls are more accessible, they come with their own jank, and result in you bitching about them not working, us usually because they aren't working right. 
Third of all, why do they bitch about the simplicity of shooters where it's just auto headshot auto headshot autoheadshot then some contextual melee's to get some more auto headshots, but a game with a higher entry level barrier than most that only crazy people want already anyway.... It all seems a bit odd.  
When someone knows how to play, it seems like it could be awesome.

I played quite a bit of the first Raging Blast. It takes some time getting into, but once you figured out the basic controls it's really good, actually. Budokai 3 remains my favorite of the DB fighting games, though.
It's some mindless beat'em'up fun, especially a great experience when battling with your friends (add some alcohol to the mix and BOOM: blows every so called party game out of the water)
I'm intrigued by the huge-ass roster of this particular release. Maybe when it has dropped in price a bit I'll give it a chance.
 
Great Quick Look, but Jeff seemed a little too offended by the mere thought of another DB game. Wonder what he'll say about Black Ops. ;-)

Give me that load screen game on another disc, I'd buy it over Raging Blast 2

If they would just go back to budokai 3 dragon ball z I would actually buy one of those games but these are just...so hard to get a feel for.

Well they make games cuz there is still stuff to show, the chars that are shown in intro are from the DB/Z/GT movies, plus atm there DB Kai airing in Japan.So DB aint dead.

Oh wow, I just finished watching this. Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans is that OVA that never was released outside Japan. That's really funny that they just put it with this game.
