As much fun as it is to give Dan shit for not knowing stuff, he has genuinely inspired me to ask more questions and/or just look stuff up I'm curious about. Hell, I won't lie, a good chunk of the stuff he asks throughout GB content is stuff I was just as clueless about lol

As far as the Euro/US thing goes with single vs. double taps in the washing machine, I think it's might be more of a modern development than a regional thing. Here in Australia all the washing machines I grew up with had double input, and most houses still have both taps, but all the modern machines I've had in recent years have had a single cold input because it's more energy efficient to heat cold water up to exactly the right temperature when it's needed, rather than deal with it elsewhere.

Dan's overall cluelessness about pretty basic household things, ie fuseboxes, cold water need for washing machines, a heated towel rail, never ceases to amaze me.

Modern houses don't really have fuseboxes anymore, and I've NEVER seen (or even heard of) a "heated towel rail", mister/miss fancy-pants. :b

I'm pretty sure literally every building has to have a "fusebox" of some kind even if they usually don't have old style fuses in them anymore. Not having a main breaker and RCDs would make a building a complete deathtrap. I definitely agree about the heated towel rails though, those seem like some obscene luxury item, and I've never even heard of them before.

Was anyone else sitting on edge every time they opened a door, expecting them to get shotgunned?

@karwowski: There's not really a strategy/RPG guy working at Giant Bomb. DOTA guys are closest they've got. (And Rorie) There's many more new games coming every week and they possibly cannot cover them all. I would rather see GB do their own stuff than review/QL every game every other gaming website already has coverage on...

This. I believe Jeff has said on more than one occasion that it's fine for everyone to go off the beaten path and look at games they are personally interested in for whatever reason, and if you want the latest news on all the latest games there are plenty of other websites doing that.

Opening that door to reveal the cockroach infestation was the scariest moment in a video game I've ever seen

I think it's always funny how comment sections go from 'Cmon Dan, you're such an idiot about this. This is how it works! and then someone else is like ' no actually, this is how it works for me!' and it turns out that Dan's questions lead to a conversation that makes everyone a little bit smarter :)

@dudeglove: Thanks for the info! I've kinda sucked in the bulk of it for being around for 5 years or so now. I kinda doubt they do much other than make money the way everyone has pointed out... it's just I see a thing or two every once and a while... things that you might say are "things that make you hmmm?" Well you might say that if you grew up around the time that song played every 20 minutes on the radio anyhow. Probably just overthinking or I've just got a mind that loves to think it's figured out something most people haven't seen.

The most recent thing I remember was the last UPF where Jeff who as we know loves his Monster drinks and talks about them all the time, just happen to have the label in camera view well enough to know what it was anytime the camera cut out to the crew. While Ben's drink as far as I remember was always carefully placed label back. By no means saying it's proof of anything, just saying little things like that give me a little brain tickle anytime they happen since it seems to be that my brain loves to watch out for small little details all the time.

And anyhow for all I know, knowing Jeff he might be doing it all on purpose for some random reason just to fuck with people to begin with, that is if it's not total coincidence.

I get that people may not have ever had a heated towel rail in their home, but doesn't almost every hotel ever have a heated towel rail in the bathroom???

(I'm being ironic btw)

1. The QL is only like 45 minutes long.

2. You can always go back and rewatch some prime premium content like Bioforge, Contradiction, Load our last Souls...

I've never seen a washer with a hot water connection, the washer heats the water itself to the actual temperature you set. Is that a Europe<>US thing?

Yes. We have devices dedicated to just heating water, and universally servicing all appliances, showers, and faucets in the home as a single source.
