Quick Look: Just Cause 3

I just fly around in this game forever.

Alex, please. For most of the Quick Look he was great, but once they got into the story mission he was backseat gaming so hard. "Your getting shot by something over there." "Don't jump the boat." "Go right." "you have another site to go to." It's an open world game dude, just let Vinny do his thing.

Probably my favorite QL moment.

Watching Vinny stumble his way across JC3 is a joy.

Dan in his element is a force of nature.

Oh yeah, I forgot to comment on the QL myself. Looks like real fun and I hope it runs this smooth on my PC! I didn't mess around with JC2 beyond the demo, so all this is still relatively new to me on the JC scale. The story hasn't seemed all too great, but hopefully it's passable at least.

Looking at the very fun seeming and maybe even relaxing flying 'bout, I thought to myself that I wouldn't mind having a wingsuit in GTA V...heck, with how you can already fly during that one Michael mission, maybe the PC version does have an equivalent of that already.

Three minutes in and already video of the month.

December 1st can't come soon enough.

That water looks incredible.

Vinny showing off the helicopter/ plant effects is why I like Vinny quick looks. That shit matters to me. I remember the time he shot the water in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare to see how it splashed, or ignored when he was told to follow in what seemed to be an urgent moment to see how scripted the game was.

I know that you can shoot people. I didn't know that a helicopter had that effect. Vinny shows the stuff that NO ONE talks about or tries and Vinny plays games like me. Seeing the shit that makes the game come together. The little things that no one talks about.

I know that these two games have different styles and aren't really comparable point for point, but in terms of "going somewhere to mess stuff up", I prefer GTAV to this game. From this QL even with Vinny piloting it, it seems that GTAV's world is just more fun.

GTA is just more alive. The problem Just Cause always had, well for me anyway, is those big islands don't offer a whole lot of diversity, and for all the size you are traversing a whole lot of jungle and empty fields. Despite all the explosions and ridiculous "cool guy stuff" as Dan would call it, there honestly isn't all that much going on that we haven't seen before.

Ironically these games have always felt really sedate and clinical in their approach to action.

Watching Vinny have pure fun in this was great, as always. That being said, was a little painful for me the few times he was "messing up." I don't mean the fun bits, just the plain old shooting and living parts. But that's just me. I couldn't tell if the shooting and driving don't control well, or if he just isn't the best at it. Not saying I'd be much better at it myself...

I've watched someone play most of JC2 in the past, and I've also had it on my Steam for over 2 years now. I'll get to it eventually...

I feel like after watching this quicklook we should have a best quicklook of the year thing. This one had me giggling pretty hard.

I enjoyed some of the E Honda suicidal wing suit dives, but honestly I felt like Alex a lot... Just like "come on man, just shoot that already and stop messing around" or... just use the boat as .... a boat and travel over there already!

What I learned from this Quick Look:

1. Face planting in a wingsuit hurts but won't kill you.
2. You should probably not blow up vehicle while standing on it or attach to it.
3. Vinny needs to be the next James Bond/Jason Borne.

Seems very fun. If the Ps4 version runs poorly I guess I could wait to play it until I get a new PC, maybe next year. It seems like the kind of game that you could just pick up whenever and screw around in, just like Just Cause 2, but the gameplay improvements and the visual upgrades definely breathes some new life into it.

Yeah the fact that ubi are basically not showing the console versions at all is bit of a fucking worry, hey.

After MGSV putting in a locked 60 in almost exactly this kind of game, it's going to be pretty jarring going to the chugged ass sub-30 I'm kinda dreading this will run at.

Well, too bad they put a limit on the Choose our own adventure segment....

There is a topic on the forums now from someone playing the PS4 version with the day one patch installed. Seems like frame rate is all over the place, not locked at 30, and even sub-20 FPS when there is a lot of action on the screen.

Wow! Just went through the comments and I was surprised how much response my initial reaction to the video got. As a relatively new member of the GB community I honestly didn't know this was such a touchy subject.

I made the mistake of posting the first thought that came to my mind when I saw the video.

@unclematt: No problem dude, I think most of the comments were in jest.

@unclematt: It's not that big of a deal. "I'm not a fan" is probably the tamest criticism you can give anything on the internet and it's not like anybody outright insulted you for it. People say way meaner/unwarranted things about the crew on a regular basis. You have nothing to worry about.
