Stalactite, I remember it because "Tights" (UK for pantyhose) come down.

I always thought c for "ceiling" in stalactite, g for "ground" in stalagmite.

Watching this is more like listening to a podcast while watching a muted gameplay video, they just talk non stop about everything but the game.

Brad's "stalactites hang tight" is what everyone in my school were taught. It's not that weird. Stalactites hang tight, and stalagmites are along the ground like where a mite would crawl. Never forgot it after that elementary school lesson.

I like the look of this. Haven't played a fantasy game with a humorous tone in a long while.

This does a great job of recapturing the wholesome tone of 80s/90s children's entertainment.

This game looks to be amazing!

It has the princess bride level jokes/writing with an all star cast and the gameplay of what we have been getting from TellTale. This game has the potential to be a real triple threat! Love to see if they can keep it up with the release schedule.

I like(d) Quest for Glory and Monkey Island.

Finished this game after about 7 hours, and it is fantastic. Started a new replay immediately. Note that, on the Xbone, the loading after deaths is much longer than shown here.

And, yes, the puns are everywhere, and you WILL "warm up to" them.

I'm glad this turned out decent. I've always been a pretty big KQ fan, and it's nice to see them revisit the franchise. It looks like it straddles the line between classic and modern adventure game styles pretty well.

They totally explained the beds. It's a narcoleptic dragon. His hoard consists of beds and mattresses instead of gold.

And sign me up for the LucasArts camp. I tried playing King's Quest back in the day, but the deaths and getting stuck because you didn't take an item in the first third of the game that you needed much later already felt incredibly archaic and needlessly punitive to me as a kid. The only ones I have fond memories of are the Quest for Glory games because I love the RPG elements and Leisure Suit Larry because boobies.

@wagrid: At least we can take some solace that if he does appear in the series he won't be in the story long enough to sing, if that happens I might have to stop playing it.

I find Christopher Lloyd's voice to be instantly recognizable. He does well enough as a voice actor, I liked him in Over the Garden Wall.

@rorie good god I'm 55 and I can even play a game like Rocket League or CoD (pretty poorly on CoD though). Yes I actually played the original KQ on my Northgate 286 PC back in the day but come on we all aren't decrepit drooling shambling husks here! A few QT events won't be unsurmonutable. I actually bailed out of the QL at 26 min in as the cross talk over the game was too distracting for me to even get a sense of the game (must be my aged old brain failing to keep up with you whipersnappers).

Christopher Lloyd! Sold.

I am real sold on this from the first 30 minutes of the quick-look. It's quirky, charming and hits me real hard in the nostalgia. Definitely picking this up.

That said, I just can't continue watching this quick-look. I very rarely, if ever, complain about the quality of GB's content, but neither of them were paying any attention to the game at all, resulting in a lot of fumbling around and a discussion that, while really interesting, had nothing to do with what I came here for.

It's just frustrating to me that I can't even hear the game, and I find this approach strange considering how interesting it looks.

EDIT: Second half of this QL is much better, glad I went back to it on the recommendation of a fellow duder.

Ugh, pretty much just looks like a Telltale Games production. This is exactly what I was afraid of since the first trailer debuted.

@madsoultorsk: Had to post the same thing! Played Toonstruck for the first time a few months ago off GoG. Great game all around (animation, writing, voiceover) - Held up much better than I expected.

Look guys, I know we watch quick looks on this site to learn about a game while also getting some entertainment value from whoever is playing, but I think you were talking WAY too much this time.

@sor_eddie: I would say there's a distinct difference once you get into it. The game is fairly light on cutscenes, and most conversations are puzzle hints, not story focused. What's shown in the QL is basically the intro to the game, and after that last sequence it opens up into the more traditional "open-world" setting these games have operated with in the past, filled with "find items, use item on correct thing" puzzles.

Wow, I didn't enjoy this Quick Look at all. The guy who had previously played through it was trying to get the other commentator interested, but instead the other guy went into tangential discussions. It sounded insufferable. Like he was just trying to get through the hour of play and finish up already.

And, how do you not jump out of your seat once Christopher Lloyd starts talking?! The Man. The Myth. The legend!!

I like that Rorie keeps calling her "Roberto Williams".

I still don't like the style, the backgrounds are muddy and the juxtaposition between that and the character style is nasty. The character styles are ok, but the filtering up close is ugly and the animation is too stiff for the style.

If a game can't or doesn't explain a leap in visual design like mattresses everywhere, that is a bad game that valued style over substance.

The grandfather did call the Dragon narcoleptic, so I have a feeling the game might explain why there are mattresses, but Brad hasn't found out or glazed over those facts.

BRAD OMG... Stop talking and use your noggin. You did that feeding dragon puzzle correctly as soon as you walked up to it, then promptly forgot how complex machines like bells and meat work.
