Dang, I haven't played Nuts and Bolts and I feel like I should.

O god I hope they do play all these games.

Holy hell, that's a lot of time spend showing off Gunfright. Is this the longest Quick Look on the site?

The Elder Scrolls Online QL is over 4 hours.

Looks like the HD file is corrupt/dead.

Considering the fact they probably never touched that thing again 4 hours pretty much seems about right.

Edit: The first games have a sound effect that sounds like someone is playing with their tongue...

This is the first time i'm considering getting an Xbox One. I love these games!

Some of these games were pretty good back in the day, but, man, not much ages well besides Pinata.

Anybody else having a problem getting the streaming to work? It will play for 5 seconds then fail and it is only this video as others are fine...

Yep, I get to Jeff saying "Brad the show is" and then it stops. Videos were flakey yesterday for me too, I kept having to restart Bioforge n Backflips every 20 mins or so.

EDIT: Okay, it works in Low Quality.

The HD file is corrupt. The other settings should work.

Ah man me without a bone anymore. Might get one again for this? Seems as good of a way as any to play viva pinata finally.

Man rare did fur effects pike no other.

I just realized with the inclusion of Conker's Bad Fur Day, doesn't that make this collection from a pretty unassuming "Rated E10" (at most) to a "Rated E-M?"

That Battletoads arcade game looks legitimately good.

Good thing this collection out, should make doing Banjo-Kadrewie easier.

I can't get past the first 5 seconds. This video player is the most inconsistent thing for me.

Tried "High" instead of "HD" quality? Either that or you could download the video (probably not the HD video as that seems to be corrupted).

BRAAAD, THE SHOW IS...

This made me realize NES-era Rare really shaped my childhood, I never stopped and thought about the vastness of their NES library.

I keep reading this as Rare Pepe and I am unbelievably ashamed of that fact.

Why does Jeff's version of the intro have bouncing ball subtitles? For some reason my copy is sans bouncy ball. I'm disproportionately angry about this!

Nuts and Bolts is one of last gen's finest games.

Don't understand why Jeff would do this quick look considering he's been verbally critical of almost every Rare game barring 360 era stuff like Viva Pinata and Nuts N' Bolts. Kind of bothers me that most of the crew dismiss the love for a lot of the N64 catalog even though they're super beloved. Even if they might not hold up my modern standards there was a lot there, especially for younger audiences, at the time, and they just don't seem to acknowledge that.

Was going well right up until they got to Battletoads. From there it's pretty much a tour of "Ugh, I hate this with a burning passion for literally no reason"s, "I think this is okay"s, and "this game needs a patch and our dedication to never doing any preparation for any content on this site means we don't have them already downloaded"s. I'm willing to bet all of those patches are patches to make them interface with Rare Replay properly, as well.

That musical number had me completely on-board to buy a Bone just for this game; and the Bone UI had me right off-board again. Also the menu transitions are about two seconds too long, and it adds up to be a big commitment if you want to look at anything in this collection.

Apparently I played Jet Force Jemini at some point in my childhood cuz I totally remember those ants with those guns.

Jeff likes most of the Rare games pre N64. It's mostly the N64 games he doesn't like all that much. But yeah, Dan would've brought some balance there.

I hate that this quick look is mostly just Jeff and Brad dumping on a bunch of classic games, many of which I love.

Have to say I agree with Jeff's view on most of the Rare catalog, and I was the exact right age to be super into them. Never really understood why they were held in such high regard, mostly a bunch of me too games of decent quality and their best games didn't match up with their parent companies output or who they were emulating.

Viva Pinata and Nuts and Bolts stand out for actually trying different shit with game design that was at least uncommon or unpopular at the time. Basically everything else 90s on could be described as "someone else had a huge hit doing this, lets do that too".... and that isn't damning but it also isn't legendary developer.

Does this for me for every video on the site for or less if you're me, usually just have to wind it back a couple of seconds and it sorts itself out.

@tikicobra: Yeah, it bums me out when they double down on slamming games in videos. One from each camp would be much more entertaining.

It's annoying too because they didn't play a lot of these games and now they're complaining about controls and things as if they're not really old. I'm not a fan of the hate for games like Perfect Dark Zero either, because I've always thought that was a fine shooter. I'll admit the control scheme for Jet Force Gemini looks awful, though. But I guess it always was.

Is there any chance of this coming to PC? I really want to play Blast Corps again. And Viva Pinata and Nuts & Bolts, I suppose ... but man, Blast Corps ...
