Sit down, my child, and you shall hear the legend of the Rayman.

If we have time, I'll tell you about the Raving Rabbids, too.

Maybe will pick it up for Wii-U just because I have not bought one game since launch Mario on it!

Wasn't expecting the Wii U version of this game to be the one I'd want, but that touch level without touch capabilities seems wasted.

I wish there was an entire game of just the musical levels, I'm not big into platformers.

@solidocelot: Agreed! I bought it for WiiU but saw a number of the reviews for this from various sites saying that the 360 and PS3 Murphy/Touch levels were better because all you had to do was hit B. After watching this though, I can't even fathom how people can seriously say the 360/PS3 have the better mechanic.

The touch controls were great for my friend who doesn't play games much when we tried the demo at Best Buy, seems like a bummer on the Xbox though.

Brad totally needs to play the first one. At this point Rayman Origins is a pretty seminal game.

Also, Brad is terrible at this game. Just awful. (Sorry, Brad.)

Would touch controls really be better? I'm trying to figure out how you could possibly do that level where you raise/lower the platforms and still outrun the fire. Unless it's a multiplayer-only level?

Jesus Christ, watching that was infuriating. It's the general quote of "You only think it sucks, because you're bad at it," manifested into reality. The "touch" mechanics are perfectly fine on the PS3 with a little bit of concentration and timing. Not to mention, it does teach you to run for a reason...

This QL could've used someone that had put a decent amount of time into either of the games and understood the flow of the games. They're sorta like modern-day Sonic games, except good. Sorta frustrating to watch them stumble around when the gameplay is so snappy and fluent in the right hands.

This was kind of awful, but also entertaining in its awfulness, it's just a shame the game looked worse for this Quick Look (and yet I think it's one of this gen's best). To be fair, that Murfy level where he would eat the environment looked like it worked really poorly without touch (whereas I enjoyed it on WiiU). Kung Foot saved the Quick Look.

The thing about Rayman is that I have NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON. What are these glowie things? What are those blue-bee like things? Why are there random enemies with sticks that look like old prospectors?

I suppose it's no weirder than Mario, if you think about it. I guess it's just because I've never played a Rayman game, so I know nothing about the series. It just seems so strange to me.

It looks like the faux touch controls in the non Wii U versions look poor. I don't get why you can't use Smartglass or something similar for a replacement.

It might be that output/input from smartglass is too laggy for something like this. Also, the WiiU outputs video to the tablet, the current consoles don't do that, except maybe the PS3 to Vita? Now I don't know.

The game was really fun. I finished it yesterday.

On a side note, it's funny to see Brad and Jeff fail at platforming. =P

According to Alex's review, in single player, Rayman is controlled by A.I. and you only control Murphy by doing the touchscreen stuff(in multiplayer there's no AI). Which is crazy, because why would you not want to be the character that's doing the platforming in a platformer? But even non-touchscreen, that part where they have to hold A to flutter down the gusts of wind, but press B(or is it Y?) to make Murphy do stuff at the same time is kind of shit, feels like they should have mapped it to LT or something.

The touchscreen levels(the Murphy levels), clearly they were made for the WiiU version that was supposed to come out months ago, then for the consoles they kept them in but made it a button press, but maybe it would have been better to just not have them? This game is at it's best when you have lots of momentum going and that stuff just seems to keep slowing you down and get in the way(I found that in the PC demo as well as this QL).

Also it's kind of sad that Ubisoft didn't let people know ahead of time that the Invasion levels are coming to the Vita later in a free patch so at least players could have known that instead of thinking they were never coming and maybe buying a version they didn't want because of it. Though why the Vita version got released without a bunch of levels ready for it is fucking nuts, and this "let's just patch the rest of the game in later" stuff is getting a bit out of hand?

Note to Brad: I know you guys hate us telling you how to play games but I think in this case the chat was just trying to help you out by telling you how to run because you were trying to get those hard to reach chests and without running it would have been almost impossible. :D

Also, of course Jeff was going to come back and take it to overtime, those awesome moments seem like they never fail Giant Bomb. (I'm so sorry this was so long :S).

I thought they were a bit harsh on the solution they have come up for in the non-touch versions.

To me it just seems like an interesting and challenging mechanic - they made more of a meal of it than necessary. Perhaps if they were playing alone and concentrating they'd have less of a bad time with it.

Also, they were on the 3rd world out of only about 5 - so you'd expect it to be a bit of a challenge.

I like Origins better, to be honest (better style / world / scenario, no touch stuff - faux or real, I like neither).

As for Brad's J'n'R skills... I will just keep my mouth shut. :P

I second the last part of this. Rayman 2 is exactly what the Sonic 3D games tried so hard to be. It was super hard, super fast with snappy controls and some of the best level design in a game I've ever seen. People give early 3D games a lot of crap,, but platformers never was better than they got that generation and probably never will be again. Now give me another 3D Rayman game dammit! :D
