Quick Look: The House of the Dead: OVERKILL

Djeez, way to rip off Tarantino. They actually managed to copy Death Proof, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill in the first minute of the game.

Holy shit, I must get a Wii.

They way Jeff and Ryan felt about this game is the way I felt watching them play Lost & Damned.

Overkill looks a lot more fun in comparison.

Not really the House of the Dead that I remember, but I did enjoy Grindhouse.

I actually thought that was freakin' awesome.

Or should I say, "Motherfucking awesome!"  The whole aesthetic is really cool, the intentionally cheesy, crappy, dialogue, the grainy filter that covers every screen - how can you not love that?

I think that this game looks kinda fun. I'd totally pick it up if it wasn't at a 50 dollar price point.

Game looks just as boring as the first one i played.  1 gun?  Boring. None stop fast pace?  Tiring.  Cheesy forced meme's through out?  Yuk!

But I expected as much from a Wii game.  The system if for kids.  This is just another sad attempt to push bad products on real gamers.  

Come on guys, everyone knows YOU SHOOT THEM IN THE HEAD.  What's with plugging their torsos full of holes?

After watching this, I don't want it anymore. I really don't... I almost bought the hype. I can see wash and repeat all over this game, only add some cursing and some grain.

You fanboys, go read a fucking review before crying "terrible!". Is this what Quick Looks are good for, promoting ignorance? 

That was a pretty big bummer watching you guys play that. It actually made me go like "Wow, a good third party Wii game." Then you guys play it, and all it is is light rail shooting. then I go like "oh wait. It's an on rail shooter still."

I totally get why Jeff and Ryan weren't feeling it, but to all of you who think the game looks terrible, what the fuck are you expecting?  It's a light gun game, for Christ's sake.  It's a really good light gun game, and definitely my second favorite of the main-series HotD games, but it's not like it's going to be anything other than a game in which the camera moves and you stop to shoot guys.  Try playing it before you call it terrible.

PS: I'm willing to bet that anyone who claims to have played it and think it sucks didn't actually play it (Deca555, I'm looking at you).

i really dig the concept, this is the perfect HOTD game lol the others seem to take theirselves a little to seriously (even though I love them to death at arcades)

I appreciate this games style but it seems to be somewhat lacking in substance (at least to the point in this video).

I am a old school light gun game fan. Not so much a fan of  Wii light gun games although the House of the dead 2&3 ports to the wii were OK. I will gamefly this one.  Looks like I will enjoy the style if nothing else.

You're wrong. If anything, the biggest complaint with the game is that it's too short. Watching a video of uninterested Jeff and Ryan being bored playing it, now that's boring.

Another game I won't be buying.

I actually think it's pretty decent; it's be more decent if it was more like old school house of the dead with hordes of zombies and stuff rather than like 2-3, and uzis rather than pistols. And since when were lightgun games bad? If I had a local arcade with lightgun games I would be there for hours everyday.
