Ranking of Fighters 0015: Capcom Fighting Evolution & Fight Club

I'm still attached to R1/R2 for HP/HK because I started playing fighting games on the PS1 pad and I'm used to it, but I can say with confidence that using triggers for any fighting game on modern consoles is awful and I should have made the switch by now.

I refuse to believe that even Limp Bizkit’s Fight Club is worse than DBZ UB 22/27. I think this experiment was tainted by making Ben play two hours of it beforehand, thus making him really salty and impacting the integrity of the scientific process.

@arbitrarywater: I haven't played either one myself, not being a scientist, but the point about all the characters being the same is very compelling.

Capcom fighting evolution looks like laziest game ever. It basically Mugen.

@cuuniyevo: I got the distinct impression that most of the characters in UB 22 weren’t much different from each other either. Obviously at some point you’re comparing two smouldering piles of garbage, but DBZ always struck me as barely functional.

To be fair you've got differences like: Roshi getting buff and exhausted after a Kamehameha, Gotenks having his 100 blast move, Kaio-shin's telekinesis movie, and small things like that. Fight Club appeared to literally be different skins on the same moveset.

Subway having a special for tuna on fridays is to draw in people who don't believe in eating meat on that day for religious reasons.

Oh damn. I bought a Hydron figure when I was in Japan and didn't even know what fighting game it was from. I saw the copyright was Capcom, but never bothered looking it up. I just like nautilus figures... and moe animu girl figures. I guess there is a girl in there, Ben. At least for anime girl merch there is.

Ohhhh. It was because of Dimitri's special move on Hydron. They made a figure specifically of that one move from this specific game.

Midnight Bliss is a special attack used by Demitri Maximoff from the Darkstalkers series of dark fantasy horror fighting games. A Raging Demon-esque move, the attack involves Demitri floating forward with a romantic pose and rose in hand; should he connect, he will greet himself as the opponent transforms into a more arousing (or in some cases, comedic) version of themselves; if male, they will transform into a female version of themselves, if female, they will change into more casual wear, before viciously taking advantage of them and slaughtering them for their blood. This move is most notable for its transformations and gender swapping of male characters, not only within Demitri's own series, but also in games where he has made an appearance, showing transformations of other Capcom characters and even characters outside of Capcom, with some transformations gaining much fame amongst players and fans.

I'm not saying I want them to race to find the worst games or anything, but I'm always far more interested to see the fighting games outside of the Capcom/SNK sphere. That there was a Fight Club game at all is absurd.

Gonna step in right now: if y'all hate Fight Club for being edgy, that's the point of the movie. Tyler gets shot in the fuckin head at the end. You're not supposed to be on his side.

@the_nubster: you’re right, but I feel like the amount of chuds who misunderstood the movie (and book) has rendered Fight Club completely unwatchable for some people. for me, someone who loved the film at release, it doesn’t matter what the intent was, it’s been irreparably coloured by idiots with Tyler Durden avatars

In my day as a "sandwich artist", the tuna preservative would cause it to be a different color until after it was open and oxidized. Terrifying.

@overdeezpecans: Oh no, I never saw that. In all my horrors, I never saw the discoloured tuna. The prep alone was enough to steer me away from it, I'm glad to have been spared that.
