Still haven't listened to this so I don't know how they talk about it, but Nintendo never said Mario stopped being a plumber, that's what the clickbait articles said. Nintendo said Mario has many activities, including being a plumber.

The official text from Nintendo says:

"All around sporty, whether it’s tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing, [Mario] does everything cool. As a matter of fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago..."

This is more of a joke and a nod to the old games where he was strictly a plumber and didn't do the other activities he does now. There's no part in their text where they specifically say he's no longer a plumber.

Destiny 2 has also sucked me in, I dropped off the first game after the Dark Below expansion. This one seems like a much better game so far, but time will tell if it'll hold my interest.

I'll never get this whole 'Mario's from Brooklyn' thing, in Yoshi's Island you see Mario's parents house.... He is clearly from the Mushroom Kingdom :P

I'm glad I didn't care for Persona 5 (which really saddened me that I didn't like it because I loved 3 4 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions) because otherwise Dan's "I'm not gonna play this GOTY contender because I know without playing it that I won't like it" crap would drive me batty.

I have to agree with Abby's sentiment that teh first 12 minutes of Life Is Strange Before the Storm is the worst bit of it.

If that is what they were showing at e3 that was a huge mistake. That first section is poorly written, very vague about what they player is supposed to do, and actually give some rather poor choices about what to say when that does final come up. That game opens up very nicely after that.

Its too early in my game to say if it stands up, but I think the game is far better than the first 12 minutes that seems like they were made by a different team than the rest of this prequel.

Because the story of his creation documents he is name for Mario Segale, and then Minamoto cemented that by specifically saying Mario (Jumpman) was a NYC plumber for Super Mario Bros. So it is said, because it is documented by the creators as such.

Samus' suit blowing up has been a thing in the 2d games for twenty years. They weren't coy about her being a woman after the first one. Weirds me out that they only decided on a consistent character design in Metroid Zero Mission. Before that she's all over the place, like the different Links or something.

@synthesis_landale: out of all the thoughtless things Dan says I can kinda back him on this one. I don't have to try playing MOBAs to know that I just don't like that type of game - I base this on experience with similar titles I tried in the past. In this specific case it's more of HOW Dan says these things rather than what he is actually saying.

This is the Japanese design article in question. I like it, personally, both the approach of meeting the developers half way and the specific differences in philosophy when pitching a game. It definitely made me go "Oh, this is something I can point to when I try to explain why I like Dark Souls and do not like Assassin's Creed" or "This is why Horizon Zero Dawn is beautiful and large but feels so bland, while Nier Automata is comparatively ugly but feels like it has so much soul". Not that anything is absolutes. This dude has worked for like three Japanese companies, he doesn't know the culture at all the different studios.

It's 3 new game announcements. There's no more important news than that. Not now that they've just spent half a year actually playing one of those games. I will readily admit that I'm salty that PUBG patch notes and things like "impressions of a pic of a map that's not out yet for a game that's not out yet either" take precedence, but I also think it just doesn't make any sense not to mention it at all.
