Rules of Golf remake with Jenks when?

i'm still not sure if i understand provisional balls to be honest. Is that a thing because people don't want to drive all the way out there to search for their ball? So they just drop a provisional ball down and play with that, until they get close to the spot where the original ball might be?

Why not just let the player go to the spot where the original ball might be, instead of doing this whole charade where you're playing with a ball that might or might not be the ball that actually counts.

The Rules of Golf is basically Cornelius' British computer from Achewood.

This is the best sounding one of these in a while (maybe ever?). Good job.

Is this Atari made or just emulated?

I guess it's PC so it has to be emulated but the sound is perfect.

For some reason I'm actually quite impressed with the character puppetry on that zombie dinosaurs game. And... as a kid who had a CD-I growing up, I have many memories of how bullshit the mini-golf game is. It's definitely timing based and it's not friendly timing.

The very existence of that Rules of Golf thing is messing me up.

That Rules of Golf game almost feels like a parody made years after the fact - when the guy on the CD appeared it was feeling very Monty Python "How not to be seen".

The part where Jeff clicks the Q in Zombie Dino and it quits to the main menu without any confirmation dialog and (seemingly?) losing all of his progress after he went through the ridiculously long tutorial was the most amazingly bad thing in this long stream of amazingly bad games/UI/interface things.

Also, for anyone who hasn't tried a CD-i, in the early 90s they used to have demo machines set up in the electronics section of Sears/JC Penny. As a kid who loved video games, I always tried to play with them, and they were always supremely disappointing. It really doesn't come off well on a stream, but the controls and responsiveness are AWFUL. The controller felt like mush. Even navigating menus felt like it has massive input delay. Everything about holding that controller and interacting with a CD-i felt BAD. I don't think there's anything in the modern age that's comparably bad. And on top of that, as you can see in the videos, everything looked like shit. This is not just compared to modern stuff. Even next to a SNES or Genesis, those games looked like shit entirely due to their lack of art design and a lack of understanding on how to make good pixel art. Even as a dumb kid who didn't know anything about art or game development, it was really obvious that the games were just "ugly."

I never expected to hear so much about balls on a stream without Dan.

Good tip for these home streams: the game audio is ALWAYS too loud.

@mvhvtmv: Ah that makes sense. I totally forgot that there's an out of bounds state in golf that requires you to retake the shot. I just imagined that you would have to do the 2nd stroke from the place that is the closest to the spot where the ball got lost or went out of bounds.

That CD-i Mini Golf game is much worse with actual hardware. Many years ago, a few freinds decided to do a charity marathon of just Cd-i games, and we only had that god awful wireless spoon controler and this unreliable unusable Fisher-Price looking track ball.

Home Game might be my new favorite GB series. There's something about the raw, unfiltered quality of these videos that just does it for me.

I really appreciate the fact that Jeff can just pick a game or theme and let that ride for an hour or two. The slightly deeper dives into ports of the same game or games with a common theme has been something I've wanted to see from the Bomb Squad for years!

God, I hope this upcoming E3 is the one where we finally see Rules Of Golf 2, featuring "man golfing on a Blu Ray" and VR compatibility.
