I remember Nitro being my first wrestling game since the NES and loving it...it made me get Thunder(some of the clips which I saw live on TV during that time).

BTW..the games runs at twice speed on PS3 unfortunately.

Also, N2O: Nitrous Oxide is available on Steam. What's interesting about this is that it is not a native Windows port pf the game, it's actually just the PlayStation version packaged with an emulator. While it's not particularly shocking to see Genesis and older games sold with an emulator, it's quite rare to see a retail release of an emulated PlayStation game.

Those classic videos were epic. And Rage Racer is actually the best or second best game in the Ridge Racer series,. depending on how much you liked Rage Racer Type-4.

The only bad THQ published WCW games were these two developed by Inland Productions.

Asmik Ace/AKI's WCW vs. The World was a decent effort for the PS1 that came before Nitro and Thunder and led to N64's awesome WCW vs. nWo: World Tour and WcW/nWo: Revenge before they dropped the WCW license for WWF when Acclaim lost it in 1999.

Also, while no modern wrestling game seems to be Jeff's cup of tea (beyond WWE All Stars) Yuke's has put out some enjoyable WWE titles over the years. The Gamecube's Wrestlemania XIX, and Day of Reckoning 1&2 were good fun but that series was unfortunately discontinued in favor of a multi-platform focus of the Smackdown franchise which also spawned some respectable entries with Bring the Pain, Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, WWE'13, and 2K14. Last year's release (2K17) has a shit-ton of issues, but the basic in-ring action is actually the best a non arcade take on pro wrestling has felt since World Tour. Hopefully things will improve with the next one....and the newly released mobile game (WWE Champions) somehow spawns interest in a sequel to All Stars.

Ah man, Walter Ray Williams Jr. One of the best bowlers of all time. I remember watching him on ABC Sports in the mornings in the late 80's and early 90's all the time. I loved bowling when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's and while I never got above a 190 average, I sure as shit loved every minute of it. This game, this GAME baby!

I like Jeff playing some really olde games, but Playstation is definitely more of my era, so I hope this isn't just a one-off. I gotta get my Demo Derby-like fix somehow.

I don't think it ever was officially released, but it was finished and you could probably get yourself a copy by nefarious means. Don't bother though, because it's trash as you can see by watching Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style which repurposed the fight engine.

Speaking of which, wasn't there another Wu-Tang game that came out? I remember some of the members saying that other game (Shaolin Style) sucked but this new one was going to be good.

I knew more than one person in elementary school that thought Shaolin Style was an amazing game. Always thought they were wrong. Also, I'm pretty sure those are their actual voices, I seem to remember that being part of the advertising at the time.

I take it since there's been no content out of the SF studio since that first trial with the new equipment that it had to be scrapped or rebuilt? It's just been GB East, Jeff from home, & podcast studio since then.

I've always wondered of Rage Racer is any good because it was supposed to be a pack in with my PS1. But they were out of Rage Racer so I got Rapid Racer instead. A speed boat racing game only released in Japan and here in Europe. I played that game so much.
