I have that port of Shadows of the Empire and holy shit is it a mess. Those cut scenes were not in the N64 version - you were not wrong, Drew.

I'm going to just guess the podcast app Rorie doesn't want to shit on is overcast, which is what I use and has real shitty security settings for premium feeds.

Chat should stop suggesting bad games. They could have played Recettear as some suggested it!

@rorie I've used Pocket Cast (on Android, iOS, and web) for years with all Giant Bomb podcasts, including premium feeds, and I've never had a single problem! I guess I'm just lucky?

I only ever read three Star Wars books, Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, The Mandalorian Armor and Tales of the Bounty Hunters. I also owned Tales from Jabba's Palace but never read it. Tales of the Bounty Hunters is awesome though and it made IG-88 my favorite character in the SW universe.

I know that Star Wars book with the downed TIE fighter Drew was talking about. It was the first book in the Young Jedi Knights series, which was aimed at young adults. I've read a loooooot of SW novels since I'm a huge fan, and I have some real strong nostalgia for that series in particular since it was some of the first I started with.

I read the Shadows of the Empire novel, but I've never played much of the game. We rented it when I was young, but only once I think. Reason being that I was terrible at games when I was a kid, and that game was way too fucking hard for me. I don't think I made it past the second level.

I think UPF maybe needs a format change. Most weeks I find it to be very dry. Needs more Mexican hitman, shorter segments, more discussion/humor/etc happening by those not playing. I feel like a lot of the crew has checked out and are going through the motions during UPF. I don't blame them, its the last thing they do before the weekend and they have been grinding all week with content. Maybe shorten it to 90 mins? Play more competitive games?

Also, bring the control center back out to the couch so we can get Jason, Brad, Drew, and Jeff all together. Rorie can play with dogs off camera or something and occasionally show up.

@forteexe21: They asked for games that were recently released on steam. Recettear is from 2010.

Those new new cameras got talked up real good, but man they have absolutely no colour saturation. I know the GB duders play games and do office work for a living but they aren't THAT pale and grey.

Holy shit, I played Shadows of the Empire a bunch as a kid, those cutscenes blew my mind.

They did say they haven't had a chance to mess with the color/white balance settings on the new cameras during the Ten Eighty Pees stream.

Brad's grandpa sounds like one cool ass dude.

So I am a lifelong Star Wars fan, but I never played Shadows of the Empire for some reason and now I'm REALLY tempted to buy it on Steam.

@anarchovelo: Hope they can correct it. It seems like it's just lacking contrast. Blacks are pretty damn grey.

Hopefully the audio buzz/feedback doesn't last for the entire UPF. Not sure you can filter it out in post.

Pandas are 100% bears, not sure what y'all are talking about. Maybe erroneously thinking about koalas, who are often called koala bears despite not being bears?

Killer whales are indeed also whales (as are dolphins), though I guess there's some room for argument on that.

+1 on the video looking off. Need to mess with focus on the wide couch shot and maybe mess with the white balance or colour saturation. Also a bit of noise on the audio.

It's a shame Jeff didn't realise he was already on simulation controls in Diluvion. If you switch to arcade, the sub can be steered with the mouse.

I like the guys talking about the production details, not so much because i care about the videos (I seldom watch a stream, and the machines on which i do so are beefy enough that nothing GB is pushing out is going to faze them), but because I like them talking about things that interest them. I agree that the videos have been a little fuzzy and washed out, I imagine Drew/Jason will get that fixed when they have a moment.

One of the best things about Dan getting out of town is that we get to see more Rorie. Secret Best Matt on GB videos.

What I see : This video does not look as good ( lower quality) as the past times I've watched UPF.

Also there is a buzz constantly underneath the audio.

I'm using Google Chrome, not watching live.

this 5-second exchange made me question what I'm doing with my life.

How come the "HD" download version is only 720p? Is that just a test for this week or something. Last week was 1080p and looked great.

I'm worried all this new upgrade video equipment nightmare with endless miles of cable will drive Drew and Jason to the brink of insanity. Does this all end with them going totally insane? Was upgrading to 1080 Giant Bomb's personal Vietnam hell? It reminds me of this film clip. Does this all end with the crew stripping down, covering themselves in mud and burning the whole damn thing down...?

@computerandy9: There was weirdness during the stream where the high quality stream kept showing a SF5 ad or a static image of Guile's face to the viewers. I think they shut down the highest quality stream as a quick fix, since the engineers had to fix chat at the same time . Not sure if that also affected the archive version though.

Killer whales are actually a species of dolphin, dolphins are part of a greater species called Cetacea that also includes whales but the categorization is much more detailed than that and they have other groupings to further identify the differences
