Wii Sports Resort Review
Wii Sports Resort is Nintendo's revamped Wii Sports game with the addition of the Wii-Motion Plus controls. Right off the bat you're going to need the Wii-Motion Plus, so unless you plan on playing solo you're going to have to buy an extra one when you get this game. You'll be offered 12 different types of games, and each of those games has at least 1 additional gameplay mode to unlock. The only two games that survived the transition over to Resort are bowling and golf (this one being my least favorite from the first).
Graphically this game is exactly on par with the first Wii Sports game. You're going to get to see a lot of Miis, some of them are ones that you've collected on your console, and most of them are ones that the Wii has created for you to fill in the background and add a bit of variety to the game.
When it comes to music its going to be the Nintendo music that they've been playing for a while. You're not going to hear anything heavy or harsh. It's all light and playful, and aims at not taking away from the gameplay action. None of the Miis have voices yet so all you're going to hear is the music and sounds associated with the games.
For each game there's a bit of a change to how the controls work. Personally some of the control schemes such as paddling, just don't work (even with the more precise movement capturing of the Wii-Motion Plus). There are other control schemes that seem to fit perfectly, such as the bowling (which really hasn't changed since the first) and table tennis (which plays a lot like Tennis from the first).
As stated before you're going to have 12 different games to choose from, and from each of those there's some extra game modes. You're going to be able to experience archery, kayaking, bowling, basketball, frisbee golf, regular golf, biking, sword-fighting, and more. Just like the first Wii Sports game package, you're going to find that there are games that you're going to go back to hundreds of times, and then you're also going to find games that once you're played it once (either getting through the game, or throwing your controller down in frustration) you're never going to want to go back to it. Even though there are a lot of good games in this compilation almost all of them seem shallow. There's no depth to these games, and its because of this that there are some games that I like, but I wish there was more to them (basketball).
If you're looking to see what the Wii-Motion Plus can do with some of the more simple properties on the Wii, this game is for you. If you're looking to get lost in a bunch of Wii games that are enhanced with the Wii-Motion Plus this game might depress you. Get Tiger Woods with the Wii-Motion Plus if you want the full effect. This game gets a 7.7 out of 10.
