That's for $80. I usually shy away from this kind of stuff, but this one seems pretty cool. It seems a lot different from the typical shiny case, behind the scenes video, in game item that get passed off as Limited or Collector's editions. So what do you guys think about this stuff for the extra $20? The in-game commentary seems like it would be pretty cool to throw on for a 2nd or 3rd playthrough of the game. The 144pg book also seems like it could be potentially pretty cool, as well as the soundtrack, depending on the quality of the music in the game (obviously). The free DLC is an obvious plus too.
This is why I hate these Collector's Edition stuff, if the book, FBI dossier things, and the soundtrack are all done well, this would be pretty easily worth the extra $20, but for all I know they will be some crap churned out in a couple hours before the game goes gold.
Max Payne and its sequel are two of my favourite games of all time so I pre-ordered this collector's edition weeks ago without even knowing what was in it. Looks pretty good.

I'm thinking the same I do about most Collectors Editions; it's cool, but it's probably not something I'd probably be willing to shell out the cash for. For the record, though, I think the game looks pretty awesome so far.
What sells it for me isn't the soundtrack, the book or the DLC -- not that those things don't seem sweet -- but the book-like box. It's hardbound in (supposedly) quality linen, for Christ's sake. Video game boxes don't get more awesome than that.
i have always found the nature of limited edition's pretty odd because you basically have to buy the product early on without even knowing if you're gonna like the game or not, on a hunch as it were, risky especially with a new IP. I live in europe, here the standard game was 63 dolars and the collector's edition was 69.99 dolars. In belgium games are usually priced at 80 dollars for standard edition, so needless to say i was amazed at how cheap the collector was so i bought that and i have to say the content is neat. thankfully the game was my cup of tea all the way.

I concur, the soundtrack is excellent and the main reason I bought the CE.
Out of fear of spoilers, I have yet to look through the book or dvd. Overall, I was surprised at the quality of the packaging and presentation. It’s not your usual steel-book case plus insignificant art-book. I would compare it favorably with the WoW and Warhammer Online CEs in terms of quality.

GameStop, funny enough. A dood had pre-ordered one apparently and then later cancelled his pre-order, so they had it sitting around. They hadn't been advertising that they had it, and they didn't have it on the shelves at all. I asked him, and he was like "YEAH, WE'VE GOT ONE!". He seemed pretty damn happy about getting rid of it, LOL.
HOWEVER, I did happen to notice that they sold the last copy of Deadly Premonition that they had finally, which saddened me as I was going to buy it as well. = /

We got a copy of it in a few days before Alan Wake came in... My assistant manager had stuck it in a drawer for me. I snatched that bitch up as fast as I could.
