Alan wake is the first game where I really got drawn into all the hype. It was the first game where I had to watch every trailer. And the live action “Bright Falls” shorts added to draw me into Alan’s world even deeper. Considering the long production period and all the hype I steeled myself for the worst. This game had all the potential in the world for greatness, and also all the possibilities to be horrendous. When I finally picked up my collector’s edition copy, I was not disappointed. Sure Alan Wake has its moments of mediocrity but the good far outshines the bad if you’ll pardon my pun. Alan Wake delivers an excellently told story that is backed up by solid gameplay, even if it does get a little repetitive. On the whole though this game is definitely one I am glad to have picked up.

Gameplay: 4/5. Good solid action, a little repetitive at times. Somewhat variable difficulty in parts kept this from being a 5/5. Also would like to have a quick turn. I know he is no Marcus Fenix but everyone can turn around.

Graphics: 4.5/5. This game is beautiful. No other words are needed.

Sound: 3/5. Mix a 5/5 score with 2/5 voice synch and you have Alan Wake. It is 2010 people make the voices match the lips.

Family Friendliness: 2.5/5 Due to the language and adult themes, I wouldn’t play this one in front of the 10 and under crowd.

    Overall: 4.5/5. Excellent game.

A successful, Stephen King-inspired horror novelist, whose dressing style features a suit-jacket with leather elbow pads, isn’t someone you’d expect to be an action hero. However, the titular protagonist of Remedy’s long awaited psychological action thriller, Alan Wake, is surprisingly adept at wielding all manner of powerful firearms. Maybe it should have been expected given Remedy’s pedigree for cinematic action with the brilliant Max Payne, but since Alan Wake’s announcement back in 20...

      Fright Train to Awesometown 0

The roof is on fire, gonna burn it to the ground!    I have been on a quest for a really good story driven suspense or horror themed game for a long, long time. Resident Evil 5 was alright, but it didn't have that creepy atmosphere and the story was throw away.  Alone in the Dark had some great ideas and music but the gameplay was simply broken. Heavy Rain seemed to have a lot of promise and it was fun but was hit and miss in both  gameplay and story. And who at Giant Bomb has not played...
