He might not be working on God of War III, but that won't stop David Jaffe from getting all frothy about it.
This is apropos of nothing, but I wish someone would commission Al Jaffee to draw Kratos.No high-profile game designer has fully embraced this whole blogging thing with as deep a commitment as David Jaffe. Rather than just use it as a marketing platform (though he does that pretty cleverly as well,) Jaffe will just ramble on about the relative merits of the games he's playing, the music he's listening to, the movies he's looking forward to--you know whatevs--usually while employing the interpretive art of cursing with a teenaged zeal. Yesterday was no exception, though after sharing his thoughts on Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gears of War 2, and lamenting the organizational deficiencies of VGXPO, Jaffe casually mentioned that he stopped by Sony's Studio Santa Monica to see how God of War III was coming along. While he revealed no new details about the game itself, he did betray a certain dignified, restrained enthusiasm for what he saw. And I quote:
a- HOLY HOLY HOLY FUCKING HELL!!!!
b- I thought GEARS OF WARS 2 looked about as good as a next-gen game could look....and that game is currently- and will probably remain- my game of the year. And hell, I think I actually get to vote on that kind of stuff in some circles :) And unless I get blown away by POP or something else I missed, GEARS 2 is the SHIT....this year. Dudes and dudettes, fucking WAIT till you see the amazing graphics...just fucking wait.
Jaffe's perspective on the whole God of War franchise is indelibly colored by his involvement in its creation, and his all-enthusiasm/no-substance extolment is the dictionary definition of hype, but he'll have none of the fanboy finger-pointing/name-calling!
#1- I just said GEARS 2 is the BEST fucking playing and looking game of the year....better than any PS3 game. And there are some damn good PS3 games, I feel.
#2- FUCK YOU! I ain't no fan boy but this mother fucking game looks like nothing you've ever played...and you can hold me to that when this thing hits and when they start showing gameplay footage. It looks like a painting come to life- it's THAT good looking.

It's hard for me not to be a Doubting Thomas about this superlative-filled account of God of War III, though there's a guilelessness here that makes me think he's being completely sincere. Either way, I think you can safely translate Jaffe's statements to mean "God of War III seems to be coming along nicely."

ScrewAttack went as far as to say that he's probably high in 90% of his youtube videos. Not too surprising, with the way he blabbers. Cursing is cool and everything, but every other word really doesn't have to be fuck believe it or not. Jaffe seems like that guy that you don't really want to invite out with your friends to drink because he will be drunk within five minutes of hitting the bar. God of War was fun though.
I love the way everyone hates on this dudes personality for no reason. a) He's only being totally sincere in this post; b) He's a lot more honest than most of the "celebrity" games designers; c) Are developers not allowed to be excited anymore? Heck, I remember an interview with Insomniac Games (you know, Sony people) where they said they were super-stoked for Gears 2 and they were MEANT to be promoting Resistance 2; d) Jaffe's repertoire tells you all you need to know; e) He's not CliffyB and works for Sony so he must be a twat right?

Lol, maybe there will actually be another PS3 game for me to buy >.> Either way, hope its better then the last one. Didnt care for the boss fights, and it feels too much like a button masher. If they changed that it could be pretty fucking epic. This guy needs to shut his fucking mouth thou. Nothing kills the impression of a game more then running your mouth. Peter im looking at YOU!
PapaLazarou You need to do more research on the Cell Processor and what is truly in the PS3 to understand it's power and capabilities. What you just typed does nothing but scream Sony Hater.
Considering the God of War series has always been a graphical watermark for whatever platform it releases on, I have no doubt the PS3 version could potentially be mindblowing.
The 360 is stronger graphically where it's easier to code so you can get more out of the console and if you'd want to do so on the PS£ it would take an extra year that developers don't ahve and thts why we see bad ports to the PS3 all the time. Also the GPU inside the 360 is more powerful than whats in the PS3 and we're seeing things like better AA on the 360 because of this. The ram also the 360 has the advantage because the GPU can in theory have access to all 512mb ram and the OS uses less ram leaving more than just the 256mb ram that the PS3 GPU has access to and the OS uses up more ram too. The only advantage the PS3 has is disc space where theyc an fit uncompressed textures to the PS3. What I'm wondering is if now you can instlal games to your 360... will they uncompress to your harddrive to take away the PS3's edge.
Sony lied about the power of their console to developers again and they made just such a big mistake launching 1 year later with effectively less ram.
God of war set the bar for best looking games on the ps2, which was the weakest graphically system of last gen, this gen the ps3 is the strongest graphically so it makes sense that God of war III is the best looking game this generation, and god of war IV or whatever ends up being the only one surpassing God of War III.
Well, given that GoW has failed to disappoint on console or handheld, I don't see why this game wouldn't end up being, as Jaffe might put it, in-fucking-credible!
