It's not too often that you get to see footage of a game that was canned before it was announced. But someone, somewhere is always prototyping something. And if those someones end up getting laid off, well, you never know what's going to happen to that footage. Cue Unseen 64, which tossed up this clip a couple of days ago and claimed that it's footage of a Midway shooter. Destructoid picked up on it this morning, as well.
Looks like it's relatively modern Midway tech, so it's probably based on whatever updates the company made to the Unreal Engine for Stranglehold. Normally, the existence of yet another canceled game wouldn't be that newsworthy. But somebody dropped us a tip that had the word "Robotron" in it. Was this demo supposed to be the start of a new game in the Robotron line? It's got clear moments of humans being saved, which was a key part of the original game. But those don't look like evil enemy robots to me. Weird. Either way, we'll probably never get to find out.
