New Free-To-Play MMO Inspired By The Mummy Films

You thought we couldn't write about any more free-to-play MMOs this week?

Universal Partnerships & Licensing has announced the development of a free-to-play MMO based on The Mummy film franchise. Inspired by the globe-trotting antics of the film series, featuring Brendan Frasier as a man in need of a paycheck, The Mummy Online will be a browser-based action RPG where players take the role of adventurers and... fight monsters. Probably take down a mummy at some point.

Or maybe there's only one Mummy. Maybe this Mummy in the picture is the only mummy. The final mummy. And the mummy is like a raid boss; You and your 15 friends trek through the mysterious temple. clearing away trash monsters and fodder, until you reach "The Mummy." And then you fight him. If you beat him, he might drop some rare soggy bandages. The rarest kind of soggy bandage. The soggiest.

There you go, folks. That's the fourth free-to-play MMO story we've written about this week. How do you think this Mummy MMO will fare against it's competitors?

Browser based no longer means that its O Game, or something even similar to that.

From Habbo hotel through to minecraft.
From Dragon age flash game >_> , through to quake live.

browser based at this point, could be almost anything

Hmm... interresting setting. But with WOW and the new StarWars comming out it's gonna be tough. Will propably try it since it's free.

I liked the first Mummy because it was just the right amount of campiness but the sequels were pretty bad. As for the spin-off The Scorpion King it was pretty bad but had its moments thanks to the pure charisma that is The Rock.
It seems kind of pointless to base a free mmo after something so mediocre as the Mummy but if people want to grind away at scarabs so they can become a level 13 Rachel Weisz then more power to them.

could be cool. its a good theme for an rpg but an mmo...i dunno.. i guess they could make you raid tombs with buddies and yeah i could see it really working but... i dunno.

I like how the thumbnail for this post is just Brendan Fraser's forehead. Will it be appearing in any Furry Vengeance MMOs? That's the only way they could make a worse product.
