There was yet another Nintendo Direct earlier today, and president Satoru Iwata both updated us on the status of various Wii U and 3DS games, in addition to dropping some news bombs.
If you missed out on the stream, here’s what you need to know:
- The latest Wii U firmware update went live last night, and it includes the ability to output Wii mode onto the GamePad (but you still have to use a Wii remote), support for USB keyboards, and much more. Nintendo has outlined all the tiny changes on its website.
- Super Mario 3D World looks crazy, and a suitable sequel to the excellent Super Mario 3D Land.
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds ditches some traditional Zelda tropes, including tacking dungeons in a specific order and having puzzles suited to a single type of equipment.
- Sonic the Hedgehog is a playable character in the next Super Smash Bros.
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been delayed until February.
- A new side-scrolling Kirby game is coming to 3DS in 2014.
- Bravely Default will arrive over here in the first quarter of next year.
- There’s a demo of Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies in the eShop right now.
- Pikmin 3’s receiving a software update with a new (free) mission mode, others are now available as downloadable content in a pack for $1.99, and more are scheduled for the future.
- Mario and Luigi-themed MotionPlus designs arrive on November 1 for $39.99.
