Well, if you had big hopes and dreams of getting into the PlayStation Home beta by purchasing episode six of Sony's "Qore" video series, you're in luck! And by "in luck," I mean "out of luck!"

PlayStation Underground mailing listers got a bummer of an update today claiming that if you weren't an annual Qore subscriber prior to today, you won't receive an invitation to the PlayStation Home beta.

Here's the exact e-mail I just got, in case you think I'm crazy!

As an update to the PLAYSTATION(R)3 News email sent on Friday, October 24th, the special invitation to PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is available only to Qore annual subscribers who purchased subscriptions by 10/29. Qore Episode 06 purchasers will not be eligible for the special PlayStation(R)Home beta invitation at this time. We apologize for the miscommunication.

Participation in PlayStation(R)Home's closed beta is limited to those 18 years and older and requires agreement with the PlayStation(R)Home Beta Trial.

Seems like there's always almost a home beta coming out.  I don't know what is taking them so long.  Makes me wonder if it exists at all.  They should've waited a whole extra year to even mention Home.  I'm getting tired of following the carrot at the end of the stick.

Fuck this noise. Trying to make a character look like ones self always ends up as some guy with down syndrome and your haircut. The only thing close to perfect accuracy is Mii's.

Doesn't bother me at all. I am sure when Home comes out I will use it. Beside last time i check 3 dollars is not going to break the bank. Remember you have an choice to purchase Qore. Same way with everything else in this world. You want in Home early then expect to pay for it. That is my 2cents on that.

The best part is that they could probably make a ton of money just by allowing people to actually sign up for Qore because of this.
Either way, all this boo Sony stuff is just stupid. How is Sony making you pay anything at all for a free beta? The whole point of this article is that they're not allowing people to just buy their way into this Beta.

The whole point of this article is that THEY'RE LETTING QORE SUBSCRIBERS INTO THE BETA AS A GESTURE OF GRATITUDE of sorts. The people that are getting into the Beta have already paid for it, it's not like they paid simply to get into the Beta.

I understand the point of a Beta is to fix bugs primarily and use it as a testing ground and that by limiting the amount of people that are allowed in isn't very smart, it's just completely irrelevant to talk about Sony making people pay for a beta. Again, they're not making anyone pay for the Beta, they're giving the Beta to Qore subscribers before this announcement. Again, that's the whole point of this fucking article.

Does it really matter? What are you guys going to do with Home? Sure it looks novel and neat, but when that new smell floats away you likely won't care one bit. Social gaming is a great thing, but socializing outside of games through a game console is kind of dumb. What Sony needs to do is solidfy Home's network code and take the beta public. Then let the community dicate what they want Home to be.

On the other hand I think people need to really start looking at Qore as an XBL Gold membership.

Home seems fairly pointless to me. All the useful functionality would be (and is) better placed in the XMB. Second Life is already lame; who needs a gimped version?
