Publishing Rights to Psychonauts Now in Double Fine's Hands

Time to play Psychonauts finally.

Ahh, crap. Just when I thought I was safe from the lure of yet another steam purchase. £6 well spent though.

The Milkman Conspiracy is still my fav level in any game ever.  I'd love to buy it again.

@spurious: Wolpaw has said that he hated his time at Double Fine so much that it made him want to quit the industry forever. So... don't hold your breath.

Good for them! This is my favorite game of all time and I really hope they can find a way to make a sequel.

@patrickklepek: Even though the first time I played Psychonauts was last year, it still ranks as one of my favorite all time games. I'm almost considering buying a second steam copy for myself now.

I bought it from Double Fine for the PS2 like 2 years ago. Got it signed by Tim Schaefer too. A lot of that money should have gone to Double Fine, I hope. And, for people who haven't played it, go fix! Seriously SUCH a good game, and.. well, you know Super Mario galaxy. Yeah, they totally ripped off a Psychonauts level and made an entire game about it.

Seems like a matter of when more than if on an XBLA release for this game now.

I would buy a Psychonauts HD in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!! & the framerate would HAVE TO BE DOPE on the 360.... right? (or am I missing something) :P

I really hope they do a HD version and a sequel. Hell I'd pay $40 for a Vita port....

For a sequel I think they should make a small downloadable game.  They seem to be having a lot of success with games like Costume Quest and Stacking.  So it seems to me that a bite-sized downloadable Psychonauts game could be a good move for them...

Oh hell yeah! I'd love to play this again in HD. As well as a sequel.

I tried to show Psychonauts to a friend the other day and that game actually makes a really bad first impression.

Reminds me, that I played this on PC (back when I wasn't into consoles). Man, I'd actually love to try it out on a controller. A HD remix would be awesome... Absolutely a great game - as well as Double Fine's finest.

This is one game that just wouldn't be the same without the excellent voice acting. If Double-Fine do make a sequel, I hope it will have voice acting.

Bought this on Steam on the cheap and hardly played it. Would definitely buy a HD version off XBLA/PSN.

It's true the publishing rights have reverted to Double Fine, but there are some more deals that need to be worked out and contracts that need signing before that actually means anything, financially. After that's all squared away, we will have some fun stuff to announce! (And no, it's not Psychonauts 2.)"

That sounds like a hint at a HD re-release to me. Which would be fantastic.

I don't think they are going to make a new Psychonauts, as they are going small right now

I don't think the game needs an HD remake... I tried about the demo and the game looked pretty good on the PC. It came out in 2005 not 2003 like BG& E.

The only game I have an Xbox Original for. In 2009, playing this for the first time on my 360 amidst a game drought, was pure bliss.

Haven't played it recently but I don't recall is being that bad. I remember thinking it wasn't awesomely smooth, but not all that bad. Go back and play any old game and you'll most likely find the game mechanics and controls to be clunky.

I kill for a sequel or an HD remake, only on the condition that the meat circus difficulty is toned down or the controls tightened. God I loved that game.

A psychonauts sequel would be fucking amazing. Psychonauts is my favorite game of all time.

This and Freespace 2 will always be my guilty pleasures. I would love to play some sort of sequel some day.

I'll buy five copies in exchange for the cancellation of Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster.
