Thursday Night Throwdown 6/03: Red Dead Redemption

Cowboy up with the Giant Bomb Boys for some online rootin' AND tootin' in Rockstar's wild western!

Load up your six-gun, mount your strongest steed, and get your bandit mask back from the dry-cleaners, it's time to get ready for a little Thursday Night Throwdown! In this week's installment of our live multiplayer event, the Giant Bomb team will both team up and square off with you, the Giant Bomb community, in Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Demand for some RDR TNT has been high, and as such, our Xbox 360 friends list is already full, but if you've got the means, feel free to to send a friend request to GBTNT on the PlayStation 3. Otherwise, be here at 4PM Pacific Daylight Time to watch the live stream of our next Thursday Night Throwdown!

I just think it's pretty boring, it's not much no one's seen before.
And in terms of what they're doing it just boils down to running around shooting things, there's not much more to it, I imagine it's been fun to play in, but to watch not so much.
 
(I know you can say "it's just shooting", "it's just driving", but with the way the multiplayer cuts things out such as the mini games, it just comes down to hunting and killing people without much surprise, I feared this when people asked for the game to be the TNT, but oh well, it's only one and they answered a call I suppose, and if other people like it, who am I to say)

FFS I got invited to play TWICE but as my gamertag is right in the middle of the alphabet and ryan scrolls from top to bottom or bottom to top by the time I accepted the invites the games were already full.
 
I am not a happy man :(

aww man! 
saw ryan invite me on air when they were switching to 360, immediately accepted the invite to find the game telling me the session was full and it was kicking me back to freeroam. the loading for freeroam loaded forever to no avail while i saw ryan browse GBTNT's friendslist and not noticing me (therefore no new invite). 
don't wanna seem like i'm hating on ryan, i just stayed up till 2am and was this close to playing with the guys but oh well....

Why were people so kill happy in the 360 game I was in? Ryan did blast me to get my awful half dead nag of a horse though I guess.

Argh - I've had 3 invites from Ryan's personal account this evening but connection issues have stopped me from joining a single one (if I look at GBTNT's friend list, it tells me that he's currently offline which I know isn't the case). I don't think that it's my internet connection as I'm currently staying in university accommodation and the net speed here is blazing fast. 
 
Just wanting Ryan to know it wasn't personal! Massively bummed out that I missed out on this (although I did make productive use of my time in getting various free roam achievements while waiting for the next possible invite).

The bear's death by a knife was definitely the highlight of the this GBTNT. It is also past 2am here in Britain, I'm going to bed!

I was V Raliffe. Had an awesome time! Just wish there weren't so many people just killing in Free Roam while we were trying to do stuff. It did calm down though. Thanks guys!

What was wrong with some of the people in the 360 games? Especially when Ryan just went into the woods and clearly didn't want to fight but r*tards kept shooting him.
 
Thankfully my experience with the mp on 360 has been slightly less chaotic so far.
 
But mostly it was pretty fun to watch, there were some hilarious moments. Thanks GB!

Yo GB Staff, your 360 black levels were not dark enough compared to the PS3s. Blacks were dark greys on 360 and everything looked washed out. I think you need to set your HDMI color range to RGB or something.

I will watch it when the recorded version is up, it's quite hard to listen to them when you're playing 10 seconds ahead of them! 
 
I was MrLollers, MVP and ryan's homey by the wall. Also i killed him with a throwing knife by the train station. I had fun.
 
edit: also i only shot ryan because he shot me first haha. Also it seemed to me like everyone was just killing each other, so i joined in. i had no idea ryan wanted us to stop.

Hilarious TNT and I can die happy knowing I got to double barrel shotgun Ryan in the face. Was a shame about some of the jerks in the last game but it made the bear knife kill that much sweeter.

Favorite moment was ramming Ryan with my horse watching him do 4 backflips before coming to a halt just as he was about to get on his horse, also a close second, dying while trying to help him knife the bear

Still enjoyed playing RDR multiplayer a while back with the posse in one of the few stagecoaches (by treasure hunter/mine) & have everyone just gun down some random players.
 
Edit: (after watching the archive), wondering what happened to the first part as the ustream that's up now points back to some earlier fun that's not in the video.

For reals, I was playing in the final 360 session and there were some massive dicks in there.

I was in the first 360 session. I was the one standing outside of the first Gang Hideout shouting Spanish at everyone. Actually, that was what I did the most the entire session. I did shoot some fools, but only after they shot me. I hoped they would take the group into a organized MP match, but Free Roam is awesome as well.

Yeah, I was in the last session and got a little annoyed that I kept getting shot to death in Free Roam, even though I didn't shoot at anyone. I retaliated a little in the end.

Shame they forgot to start recording and missed the first half of the PS3 session. Wanted to see it from the other end, atleast I was top player both games although only small matches. I didnt realise they could get so big. Plutonium-239 is my PSN ID
