Mark your calendars, your Wednesdays in August just got busy.
Stuff blowing up!Microsoft isn't known for being terribly forthcoming when it comes to Xbox Live Arcade release dates. We all know this. But the company at least gave the world at a look at the August calendar today by nailing down games for the rest of the summer. Here's how it's going to shake out...
07/30 - Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2
08/06 - Braid
08/13 - Bionic Commando: Rearmed
08/20 - Galaga Legions
08/27 - Castle Crashers
You can't crash a castle without elemental powers.That's big stuff. It's crazy to think that we live in a world where Castle Crashers is finally going to be released. It feels like we've been waiting for that one for years... oh wait, that's because everyone first started hearing about it in July 2006! I got to play the first level of Castle Crashers back at E3, and it seems like the sort of hot mix of charming looks and frantic gameplay that'll make it worth the wait. Actually, of all these games, Galaga Legions is the only one I'm feeling a little iffy about. It felt like an interesting take on the Galaga-style shooter, but it didn't necessarily feel like a Galaga game, either. The rest of these are Day One buys in my book... how about you?
I'm looking forward to Castle Crashers and Bionic Commando. I liked Geometry Wars but I can't go back to 2D stick shooters after playing Super Stardust HD. It's still the best downloadable game thus far IMO.
I've been waiting for castle crashers since Behemoth first talked about it ...and I cursed Microsoft for raising the size-limit, and Behemoth falling for that trap and pushing the game back. I can't believe it's finally coming out.
Braid also looks intriguing, will definitly check that out.
And as I never played Bionic Commando, I will give rearmed a try too. Hope it's as awesome, as everyone yells about.
I will be getting Bionic Commando and Castle Crashers for sure since I have 1600 points in my account right now but I will need to try out Braid, Geometry Wars 2 and Galaga before I make a decision on buying them. At least this will give me something to do between then and when Mercs 2 comes out.
I think that it has been so long that I have waited for Castle Crashers, that I am not as excited as I would have been a year ago. Though I know I will still buy it and when I actually do play, will love it. Right now what is really getting me excited is the new BIonic Commando game and Braid. GW2 for me I think is going to be the surprise "Oh snap I forgot how awesome this game was" game.
Definitely, I'm looking forward to Bionic Commando and Castle Crashers the most though. I'll probably skip Galaga and and Geometry Wars and wait for reviews for Braid.
Man I've waited so many years for another Bionic Commando game. Now we get a complete makeover. I love it. And Castle Crashers... I don't where to start with that one. Can't wait.
I'm definitely buying Castle Crashers, but I just wonder, with all the enthusiasm and assumptions in these comments, would people still be so excited if Castle Crashers cost more than $10 (800 points)? There seems to be a stigma that XBLA games shouldn't cost more than $10, $15 at the most, even when some games are full fledged games that could easily cost $30 retail and suddenly that would make it a bargain. Just curious as to why people assume all these games will be $10 or less. I'm not saying they won't be, but don't be so sure.
UGH! I'm so mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Castle Crashers comes out days before I have to go back to school, this sucks! I've been waiting for this freakin game for two years and now that its coming out I'm barely gonna be able to play it. Poo...
