Xbox One Launch Pushed Back in Several Countries

Looks like they're sticking with EFIGS countries for launch. A shame for Xbox-gamers in the listed countries, considering most of them speak English rather well. I, and many other Dutchmen, prefer English for games anyway. Same goes for most Scandinavians. Belgians, I'd expect to either prefer English or French. And the Swiss, well... I don't know what's going on there, 'cause all three major languages of Switzerland (German, French and Italian) are covered.

Me, I don't mind. I'll continue to buy the Anything-But-The-Xbox. I'm thinking about getting a gaming PC some time this year and will get a PS4 and a Wii-U once they have a nice stack of good exclusives. I'm mostly playing 3DS and PSP lately, so I might even get a Vita before even thinking about an xbone.

I don't think the negativity is warranted except by those who expected and pre-ordered an Xbox One and now have to wait a lot longer. At the same time, they are getting a free game and it's not the end of the world if they miss the launch of the console as the real value lies in software coming later.

With that said, economically it only opens up further opportunities for Sony to gain headway in a market they already have a bit of an advantage in anyway. I bet whoever is responsible for this delay is probably hearing it right now.

It's probably still going to take like 5 years for it to get to Poland. (That's the time it took for Poland to get Xbox Live for the 360)

I was expecting something like this, good thing I'm not getting one at launch else I'd be rather annoyed! Let's hope Sony doesn't do the same thing!

I imagine importing a CONSOLE at launch is a bit pricey. More so for these folks now, I imagine. I know that if I were some UK-based online retailer, I'd jack the price up for importers from the effected countries.

Never heard about the dev kit thing -nor does it matter to anyone but a select few- or it having DRM to begin with let alone it being removed. As for the self publishing, all I ever heard were people saying they don't believe it to be anything more than the terrible wasteland that was indies on the 360 and that no indie dev gives a damn about it.

What I want to know is how anybody can legitimately trust a company like this. They can't even make up their minds.

First there was always on DRM, that was scrapped. Then there was the Kinect always being on, that was scrapped. Then there was no self publishing for indie devs, that was scrapped. Then there was the Kinect always needing to be plugged in, that was scrapped. Now they can't even get straight the regions they want to sell their shitty system in. They really should have called this thing the 720 with the amount of fucking revolutions they're taking on their policies.

This does not instill customer faith in your brand. If anything it causes people to run to the hills to get the fuck away from the impending train wreck.

I wasn't gonna buy one anyway at launch, but I'm still kind of bummed out. I really hope we won't have to wait too long into 2014 until we get it. As soon as possible doesn't sound all that good coming from Microsoft at the moment. Would at least have wished they would specify which quarter we can expect it in.

And here I was starting to reconsider getting xbone before PS4. Well, thanks Microsoft for choosing the PS4 for me.

I'm also now a bit startled about the possibility that they'll actually do what Ubisoft did and localize the hole f-ing dashboard to something else than English. I don't want my menus or games be in my native language that's just weird. Hated when AC3 made me lie my console location.

Oh no~ I'll just have to get a PS4 to tide myself over.

Microsoft keeps making my decision easier and easier. I was already set on the PS4, but now I don't even have to choose anymore.

So, for developers doing Xbox One launch/window products, because there will be so many fewer sales.. what do publishers take religiously? Sales numbers. The first days, the first weeks, the first months are essential. Shit is going to happen.

Shit would have happened anyway with whatever reason there is for this shortage. This sucks, as happy as I am for Sony getting a godly freaking start, this really sucks.

I bet if you buy an Xbox one in Germany/Austria/Italy (depending on where in Switzerland you are) you can use it just as well. Just as an example for the Swiss people. Fins, Danes, Belgians etc., can also buy it right over the border, it is the same region after all (except Russia maybe, they are weird in that regard, sometimes they're in the same region, some times they're not).

I had to set my Xbox 360 to Germany too, cause there is no service for Slovenia, didn't stop Microsoft for selling Xbox 360s in Slovenia either, so I guess the localisation excuse is crap as usual, probably more to do with changing the end-user agreement and EULAs to obey the stricter laws in those said countries, especially now that they switched from points to real money - gambling laws and such.

As far as I remember German, Italian & French are 3 of the 4 official languages in Switzerland, so that settles the localization issues. Germany, Italy and France will have them day one, while Swiss has to wait for localisation, yeah my ass, maybe they want to add the Romansh language too, which is the 4th official one, but I highly doubt it, even so, no point holding it back for that, while there is still tons of countries in the EU that will get the Xbox One on day one without any official localisation support - I bet there wont be no Slovenian language on the Xbox One neither our laws put in consideration, but it's still gonna be available here day one.

EDIT: In the end it's really a no biggie, you can just get it over the border in all of those countries, ships usually over night.

Well, at least the console market will be more unified around these parts next gen, no more console wars ;)

So in other words they are saying, "We need to pump as many of these units into the United States, Canada, and the major markets we have in Europe because we need to sell more units into homes in those places so we can be ahead of Sony for at least a few weeks."

I'm a Giant Bomb fan from Denmark but I've preordered a PS4, so no need to feel sorry for me. I do feel for those who really wanted one and already preordered. Oh and Microsoft should just be honest like Sony was back in 2006 with the PS3. They need more consoles for the big markets. Sony could still do the same I guess...

This was a real bummer until I realized that Amazon.co.uk is still taking pre-orders and they will ship to Finland at least. Bought mine a minute ago.

Oh fuck you MS, this was the last straw. Was supporting the brand for so long and didnt let any of the shitty news bother me but now its time to go with Sony after 10 years of xbox.. (if they dont announce the same thing...) I guess ill get used to Dualshock someday :P
