Your First Glimpse of BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

I am very excited.  BioShock was a deep, intelligent, and thought provoking game which I still play through every once in a while.  I hope that BS: SOD (lol) meets my high expectations for this bar raising single player masterpiece.

Well, the logo is really saying something to me. It pours with water but then begins to simply drip, and a butterfly comes out of one of the coral polyps. I believe this is a sign that Rapture may come to the surface at some point(maybe Ryan had the place built to be able to break away from the ocean floor if need be), and the butterfly can possibly be a sign of the Evolution within Rapture, perhaps the long-term side effects of the excessive splicing has further mutated its inhabitants.

obviously a little sister, grown up and everything, looking and missing his big daddy, while holding a doll of a childhood somehow blurred memory, that's all can say, that trailer is a sequel of course, is not Ryan's Daughter for sure

I still think this game is going to be a prequel to bioshock, taking place a little before/during the big happening

I just wish they'd have left it alone...

Could have made a wink at the first game by asking us:- "Would you kindly watch the vid below"

I imagine it would be Bioshock: Sea of Dreams if it were a prequel.

The 2 implies next chapter, at least it does to me.

Just judging from the subtitle, "Sea of Dreams", I think it's highly likely that this is indeed a prequel. Sea of Dreams probably alludes to when Rapture was still full of hopes and "dreams". Also, the rising buildings could be signifying the construction and rise of Rapture. Just my theory, but I believe it works.

Perhaps that girl was a grown little sister?

Maybe the sand forming the city represented the splicers of effects of rapture coming to shore.

Hopefully it doesn't involve another oceanic plane crash whereby discovering a hidden civilization.   I think there needs to a limit on how many games can use that premise each decade.

it looks like you're going to go back to rapture as a little sister all grown up, at least thats what i take away from this trailer. so maybe the game takes place in a more modern day?

I think it could still be a prequel.
I mean, the Big Daddies could be based off a children's doll.
Hell, maybe the girl in the trailer is Tenenbaum.

Nice and sweet. This teaser is really a tease. I wanna see more. Looks like "Little Sister" has become a "Young Lady". A new character name perhaps? 

I bet that girl was a little sister that's gotten older. I haven't played the game yet by the way, just seen it and played the demo, so please don't criticize me if that didn't make any sense. just an opinion.

The girl/woman could  be a little sister that´s grown up.

Prequel or sequel, its doesn't have to be immediately after or before. However, having it set in the same universe would be just fine, that way the gun and plasmid mechanics would be intact.

Maybe the soul of Rapture "beaches" itself and comes onto the land. If enough of the city breaks off and floats ashore, it would make the game just different enough with the inclusion of caves and beaches. Or it could just be one big Sandcastle of Rapture!

Hmm, well, the only logical explanation for the events occurring in the movie is that BioShock 2:  Sea of Dreams will be a dating sim.

...and in the video the sun seems to be setting not rising although I'm not completely sure of that.  That would mean the the location is looking west, so the location probably isn't North America.

...but it could be rising just like the stones and buildings.  Who knows?

It sounds like an Indiana Jones movie subtitle; pretty lame but w/e.

It is a play in the present jump to the past game.

It is a play in the past w/ the mother of the original little sisters. Maybe this is a Big sister?

You play in the past and jump to the future, after the original game ended, and when rapture rises/girl gets out/any other crazy story.

Or it could just be a different city. After all, we don't know where the original Rapture was oceanically, and the trailer doesn't mention the city at all. Maybe there are many "Raptures".

Sea of Dreams is an awful name. Bioshock 2 would've sufficed. I wonder which ending this follows after

It can not be a sequel , it is either a prequel or an entirely different under water city like rapture . something like a secret  underwater city created by one of the rapture's big cheese or something .

Well I dunno what they are going to do or go with this but it looks like some kind of Atlantis thing with what looks to be a city emerging.  Whatever it is, I am pretty excited as I thought we would be hearing nothing about this till at least next spring or so.  But on the other hand, if this is not done correctly and if it really doesn't improve on the first it will kinda ruin that perfection memory that the first one left(even though there were a few things you could nit pick at, overall experience its at least a 9.6 on my scale).

just hope the new team doesn't screw this up, but with Levine on board it should be sweet.

It's seem to me that the girl is one of the Little Sisters. What I'm thinking is that you'll play as that girl and you'll return to Rapture wanting to find out about your past. And then some kind of craziness will go down while you're there. Just a wild guess, though.

Did anyone notice the fact that it just has this amazing transition of what first appears to be a stone wall or path- to a graveyard- transitioning to rocks that look like buildings- to the buildings of Rapture. The effects and CG work themselves are quite glorious. Now if you want to get into plot details- To be honest- I don't know if the Big Daddy doll could be a pre-cursor image to the eventual full size Big Daddy's- or a remnant of their purpose. The girl in the scene does not appear to be quite as young- or for that matter, even younger- than Bioshock's Little Sisters- which tends to follow a logic of a true sequel. But as an alternative- maybe that scene is a Little Sister looking back at the past.

How obsessed are you with finding out the origins of Rapture? Didn't most of that get given out in Bioshock?

Nobody has toyed with the notion that it could be a sequel and a prequel, as to say it has two storylines before and after the first game.  Either way I'm excited.

Would be cool if it was a prequel, looks like a sequel though. I hope it will be good!

I feel like crying. Seriously, not excited for this at all. A prequel has a lot of potential, but the announcement of a third game is even more heartbreaking. I just think the first game wrapped itself up already and there's nothing more that needs to be told in the story.

I hope it's on par with the first game, but I'm somehow doubting it will be.

Just give us System Shock 3

That's probably the most unexpected announcement of the year. Wasn't expecting anything about Bioshock 2 until maybe E3 next year.

It looks like it'll happen after the events in the first game, which is a shame because they built this amazing city and history, I wish we could see "the falling of Rapture" as it were.

Maybe they're just lying to us Kojima-style, and the game won't have anything to do with Little Sisters or Big Daddies.

The video would seem to be telling us two things.

Rapture is rising up from the water (as was said before) suggested by the buildings rising up from the sand, and also that the little sisters are more grown up in this game. Perhaps they're running the city?

One thing's for sure, that logo is awful. So is that subtitle. Let's hope they're both placeholders.

A whole rising of Atlantis kinda thing. Hmmm, did we miss something in the first game?
