Last night I was on my second run through the story and I got to the predator section at the top of Wonder Tower where Strange is.

Once I was up on the exterior gargoyles I found that if one of the guard is out on the balcony within range of a drop attack, you can hang and the option appears for a inverted takedown. Batman then warps sideways, grabs the guard and pulls him diagonally back to the gargoyle. You can then batarang his rope and drop him, I tried this several times with other gargoyles and the results were sporadic, but they happened. It's the only time the game has let me do something lethal.

Has anyone tried this or has found another way to subvert Batman's desire not to kill dudes?

I tried doing that a few times and it never let me throw the batarang at the rope, sounds like you discovered a bug.

@Lazyaza: which version are you playing? I'm on the PS3 version, I don't know if the code is completely the same across platforms

Though I really enjoyed those games, and Batman in general, I question is idea that he never kills anyone. There are a lot of accidental deaths but specifically in Arkham City there was a particular fight where a thug threw an explosive canister at me which I countered (with grace and skill of course) and threw it back directly in his face for it to explode violently. I am quite sure that would kill a man and Batman directed it into his face on purpose.

@Pazy: There are plenty of moments like that, but this was the first where I actually stopped and thought "oh shit I just killed that guy". The explosive canisters (when countered with skill and grace naturally) didn't stick out to me because because I was bashing goon's heads against other goon's heads at the time

@adam1808: I played the 360 and PC versions, I can't remember if I ever tried it on 360 but I definitely did on PC and it wouldn't let me. I'm pretty sure I glitched out a guy on a roof once and he went flying off lol.

Yeah, there were a few moments like that. In Asylum there are some parts where you can chuck people head-first off very tall ledges and rooftops.

Also, the force with which Batman smacks them in the face with iron bars does seem rather dangerous. If he hits their skull in the right place like that, they could well die.

In general, Batman should be more careful if he wants to uphold his principles. I

There's a bunch of times where Batman just had to punch guys in the head hard enough to inflame their brains and kill them. I'm convinced.

A ragdoll glitched and kind of twisted in on itself in a weird way that would have broken every bone in its body, does that count?

There's little doubt in my mind that in the real world Penguin would not have survived his encounter with Batman.

Not really, considering he just gets back up again later.

I fought some guys on a tall building and punched one guy so hard he fell down.

He probably died as well.

I never got to see the ending because my profile corrupted on 360 and I never felt like playing it again.

You know, in all that fighting. All those really hard hits, you figure he broke someones neck and killed them.

Eh, I think a lot of the counters would lead to a fate worse than death, especially since the place isn't exactly sprawling with ambulances ready to pick up every poor sod who happened to throw a punch at the god damn batman.

Batman is a sociopath, with an incredibly unhinged mind. Dare I say schizophrenic. Clearly he kills people but in his mind he comes up with delusions that he's only taking them down, essentially to moralise his actions. In Batman's own mind he is God, and he chooses who lives and dies.
